Rifle Scopes Savage Model 10FCP-K .223 scope options ($400 range)

Dont forget the vortex pst front focal plane. New there over your budget but can be had for a little more used. Repeatable reliable adjustments and front focal plane for a very good price point.

Rifle Scopes Savage Model 10FCP-K .223 scope options ($400 range)

I wouldn't get a caliber specific scope. You have a great rifle to start with aside from the limitations of the caliber. which being a savage you can change. Youll learn that you will need to reload and get out and plot your drop chart according to what the bullet does. Regardless of what...

Savage Model 10 308. Sighted with 175 Fed Gold Match at 200, light bullets way high

According to mfg data the superformance 150 are 3000fps and the 175 smk is 2600 fps. Thats a huge difference. With a gun zeroed for the 175 at 100. The 150 will be high at 100 and also 200. If I can find the superformance sst 150 ill try them and the federal gold 175 in my sako trg and I bet...

Savage Model 10 308. Sighted with 175 Fed Gold Match at 200, light bullets way high

The superformance hornady loads claim to be the fastest for their weight, right? This matches his data. Harmonics definitely effect poi. Id like to see him run them through a chrono and see if the impact matches.

Savage Model 10 308. Sighted with 175 Fed Gold Match at 200, light bullets way high

Im sure if you ran them all through a chronograph you would see the impacts relate directly with the velocity.

    Newbie needs guidance

I have an fcp-k in 223 and love it. Extremely accurate. I dont think you would be bad starting off with the fcp-k in 308 unless you will be shooting beyond 800 fairly soon. Then the 6.5 creedmore like mentioned is better. The OP said this is his first rifle. So he probably will need access to...

Rifle Scopes Tube size affect on light transmission???

    Rifle won't hold zero... :(

Thats funny. Sweet scope. Its probably tactical though.

    which reticle, moa? mil?

The mil system makes things easier. If u decide to shoot tactical style matches where they like to induce stress. The less u have to think about the better.

Any opinions on a Sako TRG 42 in 300WM?

Trg's are some of the most accurate rifles if your shooting factory ammo. They shoot just about anything well. I have a trg22 and love it. It will shoot better with a load tuned to it but... how many other rifles shoot all your test loads and the cheap box stuff u used to get on paper under...

Advanced Marksmanship Determining range using MOA reticle?

May be worth getting long range shooting simulator. Its cheap at around 45$ considering what u learn. It goes over the formulas related to moa and mils. Windage. Etc.

    Favorite bipod?

Depends on ur budget. I just picked up 2 long range accuracy bipods. A light tactical and a f class. Super tight and stable.. u wont want to shoot anything else.

    Tikka vs custom action?

A tikka like my sako trg just works. A custom works but gives u a boner when look at it... haha.

Best reasonably priced 223 bolt gun.

I get very good results with my savage fcp-k in 223. I shoot pretty much whatever 69 or 68 grain bullets I can find. Haven't tried heavier as I dont like pushing my brass hard.

223 bolt gun barrel twist and bullet weight question?

To push the heavy bullets (85 and up) you really have to push the brass hard to get good results.thats my experience anyway.

223 bolt gun barrel twist and bullet weight question?

1x9 will stabilize some 75 grainers. However if I were to build another 223 I would go with a 1x8. I like the 55 grain varmageddon bullets. I cant see a reason to run lighter bullets when these all but eliminate the worry of ricochet and cam be pushed really fast. I have read about bullets...
