    The berger bullet debate

Shot placement is crucial in larger game animals. They are not designed to go from stem to stern, but expand rapidly and come apart. If you are shooting elk, etc at hard angels where long penetration is needed to get to the goodies, don't count on the berger's to do it. The higher the velocity...

Best caliber for =<1500 yard shooting

I've been reloading the 300wm for many years now and have rarely if ever run into the need of using one of those collet dies that re-size the last little bit at the belt, and I even own one. My primer pockets usually loosen up before I ever have needed to shrink that last little bit of the...

Best caliber for =<1500 yard shooting

As Broz mentioned, the 215's in a 300wm with a break is a hard combination to beat. My 300wm weighs about 10lbs, I can shoot it all day without any problem and I'm not the biggest guy around.

300WM Kreiger barreled Rem 700 hates factory ammo...

If you are an experienced shot and can hold moa groups with other weapons I would say there is something definitely wrong with that gun. Time to send it back and have them fix it. I have never had a custom barreled rifle ever shoot that bad no matter what ammo I ran through it.

That would be my load and I would be tickled pink with a better than 1/3 moa group at 300 yards

Do I have to quit reloading for the same reason I started?

I think you hit the nail on the head queequeg. Although I have never used one of those Lee's, I have seen them being used and think you could obtain all around better consistency with a good press and dies, hitting the unit with a hammer doesn't seem the best to me but it is an easy cheap way...

    .300wm - .300wsm

This is an easy cheap way to find out coal for any rifle bullet combination since they all are different. Take a fired cartridge, partially neck size it and seat the bullet of choice, chamber the round a few times checking for pull back and depth and wallah, you have your measurement to the...

When do you clean your rifle barrel.

If I had a finicky factory barrel that liked being dirty I would probably clean it much less, but since the rifles I shoot most have quality after market barrels I clean fairly frequently (which isn't much more than a few patches) especially if they are going to sit for any period of time. The...

Best 5 shot @ 1000 yards to date

Turrets sure make it nice for long range when you have your dope down. I too only started using them a few years ago after decades of non turret types. Makes life so much easier

    What bipod should I buy?

No they will not and you will either have to buy their rail mount of make your own. I use both harris and atlas, the atlas is what I like for shooting over the hood of my vehicle for varmints because you can rake the legs forward getting lower to the hood. It helps short people like me on those...

Range Report Is there a reason the 215's shoot so fast???

There are a few that have been using the 215's for hunting with great success. One guy documented 15-20 kills last year with them ranging from elk to goats at distances up to 1200 yards. I will be trying them on deer this year

Range Report .300 win mag new load problem

Double check to make sure everything is still good and tight. If the powder lot and primers check fails try bumping up your charge and see how that works out. My 300 sure loves 7828, i'm running a heavier bullet and about 7 grains more powder to boot. edit: Never mind bumping your powder charge...
