    Gunsmithing PTG M700 trued actions?

Try Northland SShooters Supply? I've never ordered from them, but a lot of guys on here seem to say they are good to go. Their prices seem to be comparable to PTG. https://northlandshooterssupply.com/actions/remington/

Rifle Scopes Zero Compromise MPCT3 Reticle Detailed Explanation

All the "through the scope" pics above have horses in them. I'm going to guess sarcasm :ROFLMAO:

    Gunsmithing Barrel runout

He should be using some sort of 4 jaw chuck or what some call a "spider" to adjust each contact point independently from the others. A traditional 3 jaw chuck isn't going to get him close to where he needs to be since the the jaws don't usually adjust independently of the other two. His goal...

    Gunsmithing Barrel runout

The bore should be dialed to the center line of your lathe to less than .001" . Ideally it should be less than .0005". If you're new to chambering than it can take some time and patience. Concentricity of the outer contour to the lathe center line is not really important, although most...

Gunsmithing Options for a CNC machine

Maybe you could layout some of your parameters or goals. There's small bench top mills that are under a $1k and there are large multi axis machines that cost hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars. There are literally thousands of different types of CNC machines out there it's hard to...

    Gunsmithing Preferred end mills

I use a lot of tooling from Destiny Tools, https://www.destinytool.com/ they're located in California as am I so shipping is quick and their 3 flute carbide variable helix tooling is great for all the aluminum I machine. I order through their supplier https://www.carbidecart.com/

    Bighorn Origin Build Thread

Can any of you guys confirm which Hawkins Precision Hybrid rings fit the Origin action. I wanted to order a set, but noticed there were two mounting/fitment options. Option A: Factory Remington 700 spacing Option B: Stiller/Lone Peak I remember seeing some guys running them, so I know they...

Rifle Scopes New vortex razor lh 30mm tube?

I'm hoping for FFP too, if it's not, it still checks a lot of boxes. Definitely going to pick one up.

Mine shipped with two. I think that’s standard.

First timer questions- Remington 700 30-06

This is basically exactly what I did. Started out with the same rifle as you, once I started shooting past 300 yards I realized the duplex reticle scope wasn't going to cut it. Add the best scope and you can afford and invest in reloading equipment. Maybe an intermediate step before going full...

Gunsmithing Remington 700 DBM opinions from guys that put them in.....and use them.

That particular one you linked won't fit into the factory BDL inlet. Most bottom metals that say M5 will use the Badger M5 inlet which is larger than the factory BDL inlet. Maybe something like the Wyatt's bottom metal if you want to retain the factory BDL inlet. I've never seen or used one, so...

Am I missing out on life without a DBM?

living in California leaves zero chance of me getting a suppressor. I tried the DBM and it wasn’t a good fit for me, so I’ll be switching back. My shorter barreled rifle balances at the mag well. It is what it is. And running duct on your mag release is a solution looking for a problem.

Am I missing out on life without a DBM?

This, I hunted for years with a BDL style floor plate, recently built a new hunting rifle with the PTG bottom metal and I'm not a fan on a hunting rifle. Bottom metal definitely has advantages but for me I think I'll be switching back to a BDL floor plate. I like to carry the rifle by hand...

    The Fix from Q

I agree, it's nice having a compact, light weight rifle to pack around.

    The Fix from Q

I know that, but proof has different tenon diameters that they make. It's likely Tag would've spec'd out the smaller diameter for a better fit. That's probably why the barrels were done as a preorder, Tag may have had a minimum order to get these barrels built that weren't previously offered by...

    The Fix from Q

This. Q spec'd out the barrel tenon to be a smaller diameter than what Proof builds other barrels to, I'd bet Tag used the same spec to build their barrels to. That way there isn't any fit issues.

    The Fix from Q

Unfortunately no, it's not an off shelf product. Something I designed and made myself.
