    The Fix from Q

I know it’s not a solution to the problem of extensions being available, but are the 6.5 and .308 extensions interchangeable? I would think they would be.

    Gunsmithing LRI_PTG

I think he's saying PTG reamers have a reputation of cutting out of spec. Rather use HSS reamer that cuts correctly than a carbide one that doesn't.

    Gunsmithing Magazine release springs

Maybe order some from PTG and then try and measure and source them from somewhere else. http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/289-remington-700-latch-kits

    The Fix from Q

I cut my 22" factory barrel down to 16.5". The energy loss out to 500 yards is negligible to me for hunting in order to have a rifle that handles/balances better. I might even re-contour my barrel, or look to build another barrel with a lighter contour to shave a bit more weight. Right now I'm...

Rifle Scopes GAP Deal on Bushnell LRHS Scopes

The scope was discontinued, I doubt this deal is coming back. GAP bought all they had and sold them. It’s a great scope, I picked one up the first go around. Keep an eye out in the classifieds, I see them there all the time.

Gunsmithing LRI's 5 axis receiver blueprinting:

I wouldn't say well more, the base price on this machine is $150k once you add options and software, you can hit the $200k. But I imagine it's not significantly more than that. I license the same software and I know how much it costs, it's definitely not cheap either.

Gunsmithing LRI's 5 axis receiver blueprinting:

I agree, there's significant money invested into a machine like this along with the software to run it, probably $150-200k. People shouldn't assume they get to save money because he can do it faster. The ROI for the customer is the fact that he can turn out a receiver significantly faster than...

    The Fix from Q

Are you running the QD mount in the hole closest to the magwell on the handguard? When I tried to run mine in the furthest rear position, my QD would hit the barrel tennon and wouldn't completely engage. I haven't had any problems when I moved it one slot forward. This was with a Blue...

    Q made a chassis

I agree, but I don't think the target market for this chassis is for the long heavy barrel crowd. I bought my Fix because there wasn't really a light weight folding chassis that I liked. I bought it for hunting, I don't ever see my self competing, that's not the intended market for the Fix or...

    The Fix from Q

It's actually the Insite Arms Heathen brake. I like it, it's definitely an improvement over the cherry bomb. I chose the heathen based on reviews that said it had a little less blow back/concussion for the shooter compared to other similar brakes. But to be honest, I probably wouldn't be able...

    The Fix from Q

I ordered online through Interstate Guns, they called me an hour later to get my FFL info and shipped the rifle the next day. Super easy, and great customer service. White Birch Armory is another dealer who I've seen that gets rifles occasionally.

    Gunsmithing Dial test indicator

MSC does some weird stuff with pricing. At my current employer, we have an MSC account that we've had for 20+ years, about two years ago I signed up a separate account that I order personal stuff from. The listed web price for my new personal account is significantly cheaper than my 20 year old...

    The Fix from Q

I did just that, I bought a 22" 6.5 Creedmoor four or five months ago before they announced that they were going to make a 16.5" version. I just cut mine down last week, and I like it a lot more now. It handles a lot better now for hunting. Definitely one of my most satisfying gun purchases. I'd...

    Gunsmithing Dial test indicator

I agree, most guys aren't actually measuring anything, we're just trying to get the needle to stop moving. But I did notice a difference in my Interapid indicator versus a cheaper indicator I used to have in the shop. It's a lot smoother for certain setups I use them for, like indicating off the...

    Gunsmithing Dial test indicator

Quality measuring tools are worth the money, and can last a life time if properly cared for. If you think about a $75 dollar indicator vs a $200 indicator spread over 10 or 20 years it's really not a lot of money. Especially in a sport where everyone is trying to wring out every bit of...

    The Fix from Q

Do you have instagram, Q is always posting screen shots to dealers who get them in stock semi-regularly. Ordering through a dealer was much quicker. I ordered a 6.5 from Inerstate guns and had it shipped to my FFL. White Birch Armory is another dealer who I see getting some.

    Atlas on a hunting rifle?

I like the idea of the Atlas with the quick release (or any quick release bipod) because it could be quickly shared/swapped between rifles. Use something like the Seekins SRS rail. https://www.seekinsprecision.com/product/bolt-rifle-parts/srs-rail-1.html I got tired of the harris attached to...

    The Fix from Q

Does anyone make any accessories aftermarket for these rifles, or are we stuck with the factory accessories that use a proprietary mounting system? Are there really not enough of these out to market to really support that yet? Seems like someone could jump in and make a few accessories like...

Gunsmithing On or Off Site CNC Machining Bootcamp

Check out Fusion360 by Autodesk for CAM software. It seems to have picked up steam over the last few years and a lot of people are using it, I believe it's a very cheap subscription if you're a student or business that makes under a certain $ amount. This could at least get you started with the...

How much better can I expect a trued action to shoot?

I agree, and I never implied it was necessary. For someone with a factory rifle, a remage barrel or something similar would probably be a good start to gaining the most accuracy per $ spent. I think it really depends on a persons budget, skill set, and ultimately their accuracy goal for the...
