What to do with spare 700 short action with .308 bolt face

With modern bullets, the .22-250 is a great round. It will take deer reliably with the better bullets. Consider doing the IMP round...the sloping neck on the standard round limits case life. The imp takes it out for a lot more reloads. Not much improvement on velocity, but at the cost of...

    25-06?

Unless you are completely recoil insensitive, I'd look downwards from the maggie calibers for F class. Go online and search the winners lists for the class and build accordingly. JMHO

    Lead Smelter Closing

GrantA may have nailed it. My old college professor friend recently purchased an 80 pound plastic sacked bag of large gravel from Home Depot in College Station, Texas. Dug, washed, graded, packaged and shipped from China to the US, and transported to College Station, Texas; unloaded, priced...

school me on wireless security cameras

Funny story...local guy put up a trail-cam outside his house to try it out. Several days later caught a neighbor peeping into another neighbors house.

Range Report WARNING-New Red Army ammo is CORROSIVE

The primers are the corrosive part. USA used them till 1954. They were/are more reliable. I suspect that is why the Red Blok still uses them. Soap and water or Windex gets the potassium chlorate salts out. Bye the way...that is why Hoppe's and USA armory solvents were developed...they had a...

Range Report Velocity for .308 168 smk

sniperdude is close on...but you could run a drop test...zero at 100 and shoot at 300 and 400. Plug that into JBM and you'll be closer than a chrono. JMHO

    Gunsmithing er shaw barrels ?

Really had a hard time getting my last twenty six deer to run past 23 +/- yards after my ER Shaw barrel sent a .35 Whelen 200 grainer into their chest. Maybe a better barrel will help me get past that problem. Ciao. FNP

4895 has been the Military accuracy powder for 60 years. Don't discount it.

difference in FC 12 and FC .308 WIN headstamp brass

As Flight says. Don't try to get a quart out of a pint bottle. I keep pressures sane and I get 7 to 9 loadings out of FGMM cases.

Corrosion on handloads==> dissimilar metals reaction??

Whatever you find...don't shoot other people's handloads.

    what will happen??

The WLR should be okay. Where you are, the temperature differential winter to summer won't matter. On heavy loads, with slow powders, in Montana in late November...cold, repeat damn cold, the standard primers I was using would give a "bap,Boom", with a low strike on target. Bad mistake. On big...

Are .50 Cal cases from WWII still reloadable?

Br careful. Be very careful. A split case...not just the neck...may destroy your plaything...including your eyes.

    30-30 projectile compatibility

Anything that the .30-30 can do in the lever actions is bettered in the solid actions. The pointed 150's will work well. 3031 has been my go to powder for that caliber for years.

    Powder Burn Rate

Years ago the maker of a line of lightweight "mountain" rifles did some testing of various powders to determine what to use for the 18" barrels he was supplying in .270 Win. He found, to his amazement, the standard slow burners gave better velocity and accuracy than faster powders. FWIW

There is a scratch in my FL die .... What to do?

Auto paint shops have wet and dry paper that goes higher than 2000 grit. Use increasingly fine pieces of it on your bore brush or patch holder and spin.

    Fed up with stuck cases

If you use the cooking spray read the label first. Some of them contain salt which will eventually rust your dies. Personally I like the home made spray best. Cheap, fast, and no-stickey. PM me if you want my recipe.

Are .50 Cal cases from WWII still reloadable?

Older fired military brass had corrosive primers until 1954. Except for carbine brass which was always non corrosive. Whether that makes a difference in the brass aging brittleness or not I cannot say. However, a friend used some 06 cases from 1944 for mild hunting loads for his Browning Auto...
