    SureFire X400 Zero?

    I'd set it for zero at 7 yes on a gun that you plan to maybe use as a defensive pistol. Defense of what? Home? CCW? If for your home I might measure the distance of the longest shot you'd be liable to take, IE back wall to front door and zero it 3/4 of that distance.

    This whole pointing the barrel business seems a bit asinine. On most shots your barrel is not pointed where the bullet will land. But your sighting system, whether it be optic or otherwise should be.

    Yeah the Winchester Mod 70's currently being put out by FN are reported to be the best (mod 70's) in history. I am looking to scoop one up next year or perhaps the year after as something I can hang onto for my son until he is of suitable age. He is 2 right now.

    Why is it better to have a "flat shooting" round?

    You can say "lets ignore wind" but in real life there is always wind which makes the flatter shooting rounds better.
