Re: KY Range Day! RockCastle Shooting Center Ace/KY338, It was a great shoot. It was a lot of work to set that many targets, and I really appreciate the effort. Thanks to the London and Dayton guys for helping us out with a few things too. Good people=Good Shoot

    Time To Start Reloading?

Re: Time To Start Reloading? I reload a match quality .308 168gr SMK for about $.60 per round Bullet $.28 Powder $.17 Primer $.05 Miscellaneous case lube, flitz, etc. $.10 That's pretending that brass is free because I already bought loaded rounds.

    I need a 168SMK/Varget load for a 700p

Re: I need a 168SMK/Varget load for a 700p Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I'll do it like I normally do: *load up rounds in .5 gr increments from 41 to 44. *group them *chrongraph them *pick a load *use it for the next 10 years

Anyone else get sick of cranking it...?

Re: Anyone else get sick of cranking it...? Over the weekend I trimmed ,deburred and chamfered 483 cases with a hand crank Forster. My hands are still raw, fingers are tingling and my wrists hurt. They were right........... reloading is dangerous.

    I need a 168SMK/Varget load for a 700p

I've been running H335 for years and have decided to switch to Varget for temperature stability. I'm staying with 168SMK for now, but will be developing 175SMK loads for two other rifles. If you use 168SMK/Varget, What's your load? I tried search, but it's bringing me nothing I can use.

    Reloading .308

Re: Reloading .308 I want to encourage everyone who hates Federal brass to send it to me. I'll even pay the shipping. Using a bolt gun I get 5 to 7 reloads with full length sizing and case trimming after 3 loads. (168 SMK, 42.5 gr H335, F210 or BR2 primer) A lot of prep work is required...

Range Report Why are you still using the 168gr Match round?

Re: Why are you still using the 168gr Match round? I've been shooting them since 1992. I know how to load them and shoot them well. I know I should move up to 175gr, but 19 years of data and experience is hard to let go of. I just bought another thousand 2 hours ago.

    I'm sorry I didn't appreciate you, .308 Win

Re: I'm sorry I didn't appreciate you, .308 Win .308 and I have been together for 25 years, except for about a month back in the 90's when I ran off with a 300 win mag. I was in with a bad crowd from Camp Perry back then and everybody was doing it. There are sexier cartridges, but I'll...

    Take on Primers?

Re: Take on Primers? I used only BR2s until recently. I had a batch of BR2s that were bad, with 1 in 7 failing to discharge and pretty much ruining an all to rare long range steel day. I'm working up a similar load with F210s. I have about 15,000 BR2s left on the bench, but I just don't...

    H335 for 308 ???

Re: H335 for 308 ??? Yep, I've used H335 for 10 years. I have a 1:11 twist. I use 168 SMK and 42.5 gr of h335 with CCI benchrest or Federal 210 primers. It ain't the latest and greatest, but my rifle likes it. Varget is a little more consistant across a wider range of temperatures, but it...

    what do I have?

Re: what do I have? Without any more information I'm going to say you probably have a Stevens Ranger .22 also made for Sears and Roebuck among other catalog companies as just "Ranger .22". They were made from the late 40's all the way to the 70's in one form or another.

So My Wife Called me out on my man purse!!

Re: So My Wife Called me out on my man purse!! I have a simple solution that no one will raise an eyebrow to. Carry a laptop bag loaded with all your EDC....and a laptop to check Snipers Hide Forums if there's any room left. Mine says Dell on the side so no one gives it a second look.

    Gunsmithing Grizzley Machines

Re: Grizzley Machines I've got the predecessor to the model they now call the 9901 9x42 mill. It is well built. I haven't had to replace anything on it and mine is 4 years old now. It is precision enough to do anything you want if you don't get greedy and take too deep of a pass on a final...

Re: 21 feet? Think again ... OK..... here's the plan: Lets all get in circle. When he goes ape shit we can't shoot him without hitting eachother, that way he can kill a couple of us and we'll go viral on youtube. They under estimated his resolve......and got jacked! How do you say 21ft...

Photos Sewing skills are gettin better...

Re: Sewing skills are gettin better... I use sunflower seeds to fill a rear bag, as a bonus, I can eat 'em in a pinch. I did have a mouse gnaw the corner out of a bag over the winter once though. Nice work. Sewing of any kind is beyond my motor skills capacity.

    Suppressors What do you carry?

Re: What do you carry? As much as I love the 1911 and the 45 acp. cartridge, I still end up carrying my S&W 638 Airweight bodyguard most of the time. It weighs half of what my smallest 1911 weighs, has a small "footprint" and goes bang every time. It's just too easy for me to throw it in a...

Gunsmithing WTF my Walther P22 Blew UP!!!

Re: WTF my Walther P22 Blew UP!!! Walther is asking for some bad mojo, if they let this thing keep going without a recall. I run a Tactical Solutions upper on a Ruger frame with a screw on Johns Guns can. Haven't had any trouble with my set up, but I worry about the aluminum threads being a...

Gunsmithing WTF my Walther P22 Blew UP!!!

Re: WTF my Walther P22 Blew UP!!! $250 dollar gun or $2.5 million dollar lawsuit? Walther made the right call. Maybe their engineering guys will take another look at the design, before somebody gets smoked. With a .22 they can't very well blame it on reloads.
