    Need Help reducing SD

Well Fuck Ballz, why didn't that screen shot show up..well it said the starting load is 21 grains and max is 23.7 with a Sierra 77 and Varget, and that the seating depth is 2.260"

    Need Help reducing SD

Here is a screen shot from Hodgdon's site: EXAMPLE OF WHAT I WOULD DO: Step 1: Load one round each of 22.5, 22.8, 23.1, 23.4, 23.7, 24, and 24.3 grains. I would NOT expect to shoot all these rounds, but they should allow you to find the maximum load that is safe in your gun with your...

    Need Help reducing SD

Hello Outcome, My guess is your charge weight, although precisely measured, is probably incorrect, or at least not optimal. Since you have a magnetospeed, I recommend doing a chronograph test. This is probably the most fool-proof method becasue it uses objective data to make a charge weight...

Questions on headspace with new brass

Load the new brass, shoot it, then FL size it with your die that is already set-up. This is easy, too many on here want to overcomplicate everything!! Who cares how many firings it takes to completely fireform your brass--THAT DOESN'T MATTER EVEN IN THE SLIGHTEST!!! You already have your...

Just getting into reloading 6.5 creed..which dies?

Also have multiple Forster and Redding micrometer seating dies. I usually give the nod to Forster because they are cheaper than Redding and work just as well. In fact, I think I read they came up with the design and Redding and others copied it.

Just getting into reloading 6.5 creed..which dies?

Ok, sorry to pil, joking aside, here are my comments on topic. I have three FL dies from Forster. Well two and I ordered and set up one for my Dad. All have been custom honed by Forster to achieve my desired neck tension. They range from approximately. 0015 to .002". I also have at least one...

Just getting into reloading 6.5 creed..which dies?

Haha no kidding, the whole time I kept thinking, "NO!, Forester is a car". Another one I see is people say NSX when they mean NXS, new NSX for $1800...what?? :( :p...

Just getting into reloading 6.5 creed..which dies?

Painful video to watch, it's not Forester, it's Forster!

Just getting into reloading 6.5 creed..which dies?

A leading reason so many use Forster is simple, they are cheap, work as they should, and can be custom honed to match your desired neck tension.

    223 vs 223ai for a trainer.

Oh, and if you are loading your 223 on a Dillon, their power trimmer is pretty cool!

    223 vs 223ai for a trainer.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. While our approaches are very different I can appreciate the merit in yours.

    223 vs 223ai for a trainer.

A question about trainers. I see many people say that the purpose of a trainer is to among other things, learn to shoot in the wind with a non-wind cheating caliber. If you learn to shoot your 223 in the wind, how does that translate into being able to make the correct wind call with a "wind...

    223 vs 223ai for a trainer.

How many rounds of .223 do you figure you will need to shoot to break even over shooting only the Creed?

Reloading newby dies question - Bushing vs FL vs Collet/Body vs etc

Honestly man, I have all the fancy dies and I have some standard dies like you mentioned. I think you will be very happy with the results you get from your current setup. I have shot many sub half moa groups with standard FL dies and watched countless fools shoot huge groups and miss every...

New build..help me spend some tax money?

Even a nicely tuned Rem700 trigger will do the job. My .308 has one beautifully worked over and it breaks nearly as crisply as a Timney and feels night and day better than a Jewel at the same 2.75 lb pull weight. A person would really have to spend a lot of time behind both to notice the...

New build..help me spend some tax money?

Lots of good advice so far regarding actions, so I thought I'd just touch on trigger. Being a big fan and a fairly long-time user of Jewel triggers, I don't think you should put one on the build you're describing. They shine on BR and varmint rifles where the pull weight is down around two -...

    Varget?

I've used a few lbs of IMR 4451 in 6.5x47 as well as a couple lbs of H4350. If you properly develop a load for your 6.5CM with 4451, I guarantee you won't see any meaningful difference between it and H4350. As for temp stability, based on what I've seen and read, I think the jury is still out...
