    Army M24 Build Thread

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Here's a question for those in the know. In looking at pictures here and there of the 24, I've noticed that some M24s have an extended upper picatinny rail (hangs out past the lug and over an inch or so of the barrel) whereas others are cut short just aft of the...

Re: Army M24 Build Thread I sell guns for a living in a high volume gun shop just outside Seattle. Our gunsmith says the ATF could care less what you write on a receiver so long as you don't touch the serial number and the NAME of the manufacturer. A retired, local ATF agent tells me the same...

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Well, I'm finin' to find out. I decided to complete the clone build while waiting on the genuine rig. I re-tig welded the fucked up lettering and bought a set of letter stamps in the correct font and size. I'll hand stamp the letters one at a time that way I can...

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Stock is new in box with bottom metal screws from HS Precision. I paid 580.00 for it. That's about 50.00 less than what HSP gets. Make a decent offer. At least it'll help pay for a GI M24. I'll post pics in the morning.

    Army M24 Build Thread

Re: Army M24 Build Thread I broke down and put money on the real meal deal. It'll be a long wait though. It's just that I've got to at least build SOMETHING of a beast now that I have a barrel, the correct M24 stock, the dakota metal, and so on. Oh well. I need a winter project.

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Yah, if you look inside the vent in the threaded area, you can see where there are fresh burrs in the threads. It's a bit over an eighth in diameter.

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Well, here's a couple of pics of the engraved receiver...the now, royally fucked-up, engraved receiver. Letters are double-cut because the diamond/carbide cutter broke as it was being engraved. So what's he do...keep cutting anyhow. Letters are not space as...

Re: Army M24 Build Thread I finally got in touch with OK Weber in Eugene. He has all the Mil-Spec iron sight pieces except the rear sight. He's been waiting for them to arrive from England, where they are apparently made. I got an order in for everything anyhow. Now if that engraving shop...

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Hate to say it but it's my first build of an M24 but in my spare time, I build Smithsonian level ship models from scratch so I can tell you that I am never satisfied with my own efforts unless authenticity is as close to reality as pratical and possible. I try to...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Roger that then, Mk4 rings it is. The picture is one I took of my long action receiver. As for the barrel, since Remington won't sell me a one(I am a gun dealer in Seattle)for the 24, a local, master riflesmith ordered an air-gauged Douglas with a straight taper. An...

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Here's the picture of my receiver chucked up in the engraver. The head is about to cut the "U.S." above the serial number. Gone, is what used to say "MODEL 700" under the Remington logo. "MODEL 700 M24" will be centered under Remington in the original font style.

Re: Army M24 Build Thread I have tried to get in touch with the OK Weber shop several times over the last couple of weeks - both phone & email... maybe they're on vacation...no response. I'll keep trying. Can anyone say for sure what the part numbers are for the Badger rings and base...

Re: Army M24 Build Thread FNG here and getting an M24 build underway. If I can figure out how to upload images, I'll shoot a pic of the receiver being re-engraved after I TIG welded of where it said "MODEL 700" so "MODEL 700 M24" would be centered under "Remington." In this thread, nobody has...
