Working up a load with IMR4064---Check my math.

    If you follow Dan's instructions, you can choose to use 46.5gr-10% and then either 0.03gr or 0.4gr increments from the 4th charge level on. Using 0.3gr (>0.7%) might look like this: 1 @ 41.0 1 @ 41.9 1 @ 42.7 ======= 3 @ 43.6 3 @ 43.9 2 @ 44.2 3 @ 44.5 3 @ 44.8 3 @ 45.1 3 @ 45.4 3 @ 45.7...

Load development with Magneto Speed chrono

All the above comments about a shift in POI are of course correct . . . but what has been minimized is that a change in strap tension or bayo position can change the changed POI yet again. Unfortunately . . . as I've learned . . . that type of change can happen at any time, so I make extra...

    A&D FX-120i Scale Settings?

Alligator clip to any of the small screws on the bottom or on the backplate . . . the outlet box screw will work fine if it's a metal outlet box and is in fact grounded lol.

interpreting ladder test with 155 lapua scenars and varget,

Not really experienced with the Ladder test, but doesn't yours indicate 45.0-45.5 and 47.0-47.5 are areas to try? I've used OCW, and nodes are often thought to be about 3% apart. The two above are ~6% apart, indicating their might have been a node in between not apparent in your results, and...

    A&D FX-120i Scale Settings?

Quite honestly, fast response and changed the Mode so that Grains and Grams are the only switchable options. As for accuracy, maybe I'm just slow on the uptake lol, but I've discovered new barriers to stability and accuracy. Probably the most useful one to pass on is that these good digital...

Same attack (Web Attack Nuclear Exploit Kit Download ) detected/blocked by Norton today. Wondering if some of the ads are the source - wouldn't be the first time.

What are .223 reloading costs per round?

Using Powder Valley's current prices assuming a single order to check . . . H335@25gr (0.078 incl ALL shipping and Hazmat), CCI41 (0.038), Hornady 55gr FMJBTw/c (0.09) works out to about $0.206 per round without brass. Under $0.20 if not using military primers.

    Wanted: Brass Annealing Times

If you are designing/building an all-caliber annealer, you probably should allow for needing more than just the normal 7-8 seconds for, eg, 308 brass. Ideally dwell time adjustment should be in equal increments over the complete range to avoid (eg) having the last time adjustment yield a much...

Cost v. Benefit of Reloading .308

Your math is a bit fuzzy to me, and you should be saving closer to $0.75 per MATCH reload vs factory match ammo at $1.25 each. But your point is clear. If you can afford to buy factory ammo but have no time, by all means buy the ammo. But if you can afford the ammo, why would you shoot...

    308 winchester vs lapua brass

FWIW, my own experience with Lapua brass in my 308 is that case capacity increases by about 8% after being fire formed. It remains pretty consistent after that for any given brass length. IOW, the shoulders on new brass are "significantly" lower before fire forming.

    .308 load development results--opinions needed

^ This :) While each node has some width to it, the theory would predict nodes 3% or ~1.3gr apart. So *IF* 43.0 is a node, then 41.7 and 44.3 may be as well. You would have missed confirming both of them by using the specific 0.5gr increments you used.

    Pistol OCW test/results/observations

Nice work! Could be lower barrel temp affecting that first shot? Might try 5 rounds, first round at a separate target or ignore it.

Developing a load in 60 shots, the way it should be! LOL

Nice work. I would have chosen 24.1gr because actual powder charges 24.0-24.2 won't affect accuracy. But 24.3 will.

    OCW/COAL question

I understand why you asked the question, but our guesses really don't matter. Could be the barrel harmonics have changed if the barrel wasn't free-floating before and it is now . . . or vice-versa. Maybe the new stock changed something, maybe it didn't. Could be better, could be worse, could...

    Powder and velocity

While I don't think it will help much, verify what caliber and specify which bullet you are using with 44.0gr of H4350 to produce 2940 fps. Can then tell you what Quickload thinks that velocity should be, and then give you what powder reduction would reduce that by ~75fps. But probably better...

What method do you prefer? (POLL)

OCW makes the most sense to me, so that's what I use. As a side note, I'm not fully convinced on the round robin firing requirement . . . not so sure that "spreading the error" caused by changing barrel conditions is either good or necessary when looking for common POI among different powder...

    2 OCW. 2 Rifles. 1 Load?

I came to 41.8-41.9 before reading your own conclusions. I think this is also supported by the scattering that occurs around 42.4gr which is about where you could expect it. Not knowing what your max safe load is, I'd be looking for another accuracy node theoretically at 43.0+. So I'd shoot...

    Redding T7

If you are going to hand weigh your powder charges, you probably won't see much of a speed increase using a turret vs a single stage for rifle. If you are not going to hand weigh your powder charges, the small loss in concentricity likely with a quality turret probably isn't going to matter much.

Anyone else using a Hornady Lock-N-Load AP Progressive Press for precision bolt rifle ammo

^ That approach should yield a very consistent product. You have pretty much eliminated all the progressive press "automation" using the press as a single stage.

Anyone else using a Hornady Lock-N-Load AP Progressive Press for precision bolt rifle ammo

I use my AP for pistol and plinking rifle, and the ammo is very good, but I don't use it for "precision" ammo. The Hornady powder measure is good, but not as good as hand weighing. YMMV. The runout is very good, as you say, likely because there is zero slop in the tool head . . . because it's...
