Night Vision NV and thermal kills...

Fun night taking my 13 year old daughter and her friend out hunting. Her friend had only shot a gun once before. Started with 22 and worked up to consistent hits on steel at 200m off the tripod. Then the 5.56 AR, and finally the 6.5 CM. Both did awesome. 3 rounds fired, 3 perfect neck shots. Fun...

Night Vision Athlon Cronus ATS PRO 35CL Clip On.

3 more pigs down with the Athlon compliments of my 13 y/o daughter and her friend. RTZ was perfect after being stored for two weeks. All perfect neck shots from 70-120m. Only frustration was that the auto record function doesn’t stay turned on if you power off the unit. Thought if I turned on...

Let's talk about youth packages and training

Above your price point, but well worth it in my opinion, is to get a quality 22 and chassis that both the kids and you can use. I put a Tikka T1X in a KRG Bravo and a cheap 22 suppressor on the end. Daughter has been able to grow with it, and enjoys shooting in the backyard at 25m when she gets...

ZEISS LRP S3 4-25 For Hunting?

I put a mk5 3-18 on my 2nd son’s hunting rifle that I built out for him. Hard to beat the weight and size of it. If trying to keep ounces to a minimum I would probably go with one on my own rifle. I much prefer the glass on my S3, and willing to sacrifice the weight for the clarity, turrets...

ZCO 420 vs NF 420 on a gas gun.

I was considering the ZCO 4-20, but went cheap route on the S3 4-25 and have been very happy with it on my gas gun. Not PRS, but great on animals to 600 and steel to 1000m. Needs the sun shade, though. Just throwing out another option. Expert Voice pricing was well worth it.

    New Sig CROSS

Anyone tried out the Sawtooth in 6.5cm, preferably the 18” version? Bought an original cross for my 2nd son, and honestly wasn’t that impressed with the accuracy. Good enough, but felt it would have greatly benefited from a better barrel. 3rd son is now ready for his “grown up” rifle and looking...

ZEISS LRP S3 4-25 For Hunting?

On a 6.5cm AR10. Use it for animals (pigs, coyotes, deer, and elk) out to 600m, and steel out to 1000m. Agree with above that eyebox is fine up to 20x. Keep it in that range and won’t have any issues. I’m not getting rid of mine. Just wanted to be clear on some of its limitations.

ZEISS LRP S3 4-25 For Hunting?

I’ve been running the S3 4-25 on my primary hunting rifle for about four months now. Glass is excellent, as are the turrets. Reticle is usable on low end with the illumination on. Have used it at 4-6x adequately with a thermal clip on. Two issues with the scope. Eye box is pretty damn tight...

    Stock conundrum

Have two KRGs currently and about to build out a third. MDT mags have been perfect in them.

Currently building that almost exact same setup for my youngest son.

Help me spend my money: Seekins

Agree with above comments. I would even say if shooting past 400 consistently you’ll be glad you chose the 6.5 CM. Much easier to spot hits and misses.

Night Vision Athlon Cronus ATS PRO 35CL Clip On.

That’s a tough one. I’ve been using thermals for over 25 years, whether in the military or for hunting. With experience you can ID stuff much better based on temperature, movement patterns, and shape. My almost ten year old pulsar 384 scanner is still what I primarily use to find animals, and...

Night Vision NV and thermal kills...

Trying out the new Athlon clip on and have been impressed so far. 6.5cm shooting 100 ELD VT. Coyote at 179m. Sow nursing piglets when I shot at 94m.

Hunting & Fishing Let’s start a coyote thread.

179m with new Athlon clip on. 100 ELD VT out of a 6.5 CM are not fur friendly.

Night Vision Athlon Cronus ATS PRO 35CL Clip On.

Barn is actually at 800ish, didn’t clear the range when scanned over. Windmills are about 2km away. Lone cow at 737m.

Night Vision Athlon Cronus ATS PRO 35CL Clip On.

First piggy with the Athlon. Thought I had autorecord for video turned on but it wasn’t. 94m with 6.5cm, 100 ELD VT. Thermal worked perfectly again.

Night Vision Athlon Cronus ATS PRO 35CL Clip On.

First kill with the Athlon. 179m with 6.5cm shooting 100 ELD VT. Worked perfectly.

What FPS are you getting out of your 16" barrel 6.5 creedmoor?

Seems slow to me. My old 16” barrel used to average 2500 with 143 ELDX, and around 2620 with 120 Nosler ballistic tips. Maybe go really light and load 100 ELD VTs? Have worked great for me on animals and steel.

Night Vision Athlon Cronus ATS PRO 35CL Clip On.

Ok. Got it zeroed on both rifles today. The instructions in the manual are dogshit. Also didn’t help that I started with the AR10, which has a Zeiss S3 4-25 on it. Really hard to see the menu items when unit is on 1x base, and scope is at 4x base mag. Fumbled through it and got zeroed after some...
