Transitioning from 77gr SMK to 77gr TMK

Down slightly. 22.4gr @ 2550 is where I ended up. 18" barrel. This is out of an AR...I've never shot them from my bolt .223s.

Sierra 69g Tipped MatchKing bullet load data?

I like 8208 in mine... I settled on 23.1gr. Here's some load data for you...from my 18" Larue 1:8 barrel. I never shoot my ARs, so excuse the massive gap in dates. Bullet Powder Charge Case Primer OAL Date FPS SD 69gr Sierra TMK 8208 XBR 22.5 LC CCI 2.26 5/27/2018 2625 69gr Sierra...

    Primer pocket prep?

Assuming we aren't talked about crimped primers, you arguably don't need to do much primer pocket prep at all. Those in search of 'extreme' accuracy will occasionally uniform primer pockets with a reamer to ensure the consistent depth, but I'd guess the vast majority of folks aren't doing that...

    Help with powder and primers

The 6.5CM was literally designed using H4350. Assuming you can find it (you should be able to), I would start there; it is very likely to shoot well (probably right around the 40.6-41.2gr area). You'd want to grab either CCI or Fed primers in whatever primer size your brass calls for. RL16 is...

AMP Annealing Made Perfect is a load of horse manure?

lol you guys... Look, the AMP (or a homemade induction annealer) is unquestionably the best way to anneal. It is the only method that will 100% of the time apply the exact same amount of heat, for the exact same amount of time case-to-case. Paying careful attention, you can get close with...

AMP Annealing Made Perfect is a load of horse manure?

I don't understand how you have come to any conclusions based off what you've done. It's literally mind blowing. 1.) You failed to read and follow instructions, and are now bashing a product on a forum; recommending other products that are inherently less consistent. 2.) Litz has conducted a...

AMP Annealing Made Perfect is a load of horse manure?

A couple of things.... 1.) You need to use fire formed cases only. 2.) 3 randomly selected fire formed 50BMG cases are not going to weigh exactly 866.3gr each. I flat out don't believe that. 3.) There will be some variability in the returned AZTEC codes..this isn't some made up number. It's the...

Growth in Case Neck Thickness - what causes it ?

If it's the case mouth, it's wet tumbling peeing it, and causing it to mushroom ever so slightly. At least I've had it happen multiple times. The actual neck, I haven't seen. Where the case neck meets the shoulder....well that's just a donut forming.

Failure to fire, soft primer strike

It is possible your problems aren't primer or ignition-system related at all. If you are over sizing the brass (usually by quite a bit), you can create a condition where the case has room to be 'pushed forward' in the chamber by several thousandths by the firing pin impact. The symptoms it will...

Failure to fire, soft primer strike

How much are you bumping the shoulder when you resize the brass?

    Annealing Made Perfect

I don't think anyone is arguing they anneal 'better' than a flame annealer assuming it's properly setup/timed etc.. That's the benefit of the AMP; there's zero guess work. You *know* it's annealing perfectly, every time.

    6.5cm powder.

I know this is an old thread, but LOL at telling guys in AZ to run RL17. That is crazy talk. RL17 is one of the most temp sensitive powders on the market today. The powders for the 6.5CM with a 140 class are: H4350, RL16, and H4831SC. 4831SC will suffer a slight velocity penalty compared to...

McMillan A6 Stock Users - Question

Well, I took everything apart and I can't figure it out. Separated the stock and it's stiff as hell on it's own; I'm 6'4" 230 and I can't get it to flex using all my strength. The stock has pillars installed, and is glass bedded on top of that. Screw torque was 35 in-lbs on both screws; I ran it...

McMillan A6 Stock Users - Question

Gents, I had a Kelbly built on a painted/adjustable McMillan A6, and recently took possession of it. Everything looks/works great, however the stock feels unlike any other McMillan fiberglass stock I own. That said, it feels like there's excessive flex in the stock compared to the A5s that I...

    88 eldm in .223 velocities?

You're going to need way more freebore than .095 for the 88 ELDM; it's a long bullet. They were seated too deep on a .170FB F-T/R gun I had, and I didn't try them until the rifle had ~2,000 rounds on it. You're not going to get 3000 FPS either; it's got a large bearing surface. Larger than...

Finally shot my first 1000 yard group.

That drag coefficient would cause it (although I'd actually expect it to cause more of an issue). You also need to keep in mind that conditions will change hourly/daily, and can have significant impact on your come-ups at 1,000; much more so than say the 500 yards you've been shooting. As a...

    Giraud Power Trimmer

I'll be the (somewhat) dissenting opinion. I've had my Giraud for a few years now, and yes it saves a TON of time. There is no question that it's better than pretty much any other option out there. That said, it does have its quirks. 1.) Setting up cutters and case holders is a pain in the...

A&D FX120i labscale reloading upgrade with V2 auto trickler review.

Anyone try ball powders in their V3 yet? If so, any issues such as leakage or binding etc? Edit: Just read further back in the thread; asked and answered. It works fine. :)

    A & D FX120i & trickler questions

Mine will shift side to side. I almost think the 'nipple' piece is machined too long/deep, not allowing full contact on the 'sides'...if that makes sense. I suspect if you ground it down, or cut .2-.3" it'd make better contact and wouldn't shift.
