Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

Thanks everyone for your help and advice! I decided and pulled the trigger on the Nightforce SHV 4-16x50 4. 4-14x50 F1. It'll be a few weeks to arrive with the military discount program, but it'll be brand new and hopefully I'll be proud to own it.

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

I'm between the NF SHV 4-16x50 or the SWFA 5-20. I don't feel comfortable buying used. Sure there's a warranty, but maybe it's been dropped, or who knows what. I don't want to blow my budget and have issues. I can get the NF cheaper, so I'm leaning that way. I'm not spending $200 on NF...

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

Yes, exactly that. When sighting in, I measure in inches on target and click the MOA turrets to adjust to zero. I never touch the dials after it's zeroed. That's why I want to play with a precision rifle, there's more to do. I think mils will be fine. My other "good" scope is an old Weaver...

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

Well my old time gun-hoarding shooting buddy is pushing me towards Nightforce. I got in contact with them and with my mil discount, I can afford an SHV scope. Then there's the question of what model The only 1st focal plane model is the 4x14. From what I've read on reviews, the reticle is...

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

Isn't Athlon Chinese? I draw the line at that. Don't care how good it is, I don't want to run anything China on this rifle.

6.5 Creedmoor questions- dumb it down for me please

Oh I like the "easy button" when getting started for sure. Hornady brass, Hornady match dies, and a load with lots of recommendations. Sweet. I do however already stock Varget for my match 75gr .223 loads. Reloader 16 will require another mail order :) Maybe I can throw together some Varget...

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

Dang it. Looks like they updated it. Now I have another contender. Made in the USA too? Why isn't everyone running it over a Vortex? I'm going to be losing some sleep over this decision for sure.

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

I couldn't find that model on my promotive/expert purchase options. Then I read this review on Steiner's webpage.

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

I read everything I could on the Nightforce SHV 4-14x50 F1, and it does look pretty cool. I don't like that the windage is covered, the scope markings aren't visible while "on" the rifle, etc, but the quality should surpass the other scopes I'm considering. The "proud to own" factor does mean...

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

Seems a bit low on magnification though. My highest scope is a 3-10x and I want to try something more, although I've never used one before. I think at least 18x, 24-25x would be better.

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

I have yellow stickies with scribbles all over my desk. I'm still holding out for Vortex's 3/18/19 product information release before buying, however my current contenders are: PST Gen II for $700 Nikon FZ1000 for $800 Razor HD $1300 My hold up on the Nightforce SHV are the MOA turrets. If...

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

The SHV's have MOA turrets and MIL reticles? I read that's a no-no. The SWFA is $1300 and ticks all the right boxes for options. I don't know anything about them. Obviously a house brand. Where are they made? The made in Japan scopes are probably from the same optics factory (just like...

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

The 4-24 is only $599 if I'm looking at the right thing. https://www.eurooptic.com/vortex-viper-pst-6-24x50-ffp-riflescope-with-ebr-2c-reticle-mrad-pst-43128-new.aspx (edit: I think that's Gen 1) Or the 5-25 is $100 more...

Sweet, I'll watch that as soon as my wife is out of range. I bet she'd rather me watch porn than how to blow another $1000 on gun stuff.

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

I’d consider used. Never again on a rifle but maybe on a scope. Anyone want a socom m1a that won’t shoot under 3moa even with gunsmithing? Lol.

6.5 Creedmoor questions- dumb it down for me please

I'm not go to buy another single stage press. I was saying that I can screw the hornady match dies into my Lee press and start making bullets sooner/cheaper than decking out the 550B with $200 worth of stuff to automate another caliber.

Rifle Scopes Who wants to recommend me a scope? (sub $1k, med range, 6.5 Creedmoor)

I read through the "So you want to buy a long range scope" article and it fully changed my thinking. I was going to get a Vortex PST 5x25-56 and call it a day. So while I dream of running PRS matching with my brand new 6.5CM bolt gun, the reality of my life is that I'm going to be sitting on...

6.5 Creedmoor questions- dumb it down for me please

I reload for many calibers with both a Dillon 550B and a Lee classic single stage. I'm getting into 6.5 Creedmoor and once I have a few hundred rounds of Hornady brass, I'm going to roll my own. I did a search and holy crap, I'm over my head with all the geek talk. I'm not shooting matches...
