Rifle Scopes Looking for a scope that's right for me.

You might check out the Gen 3 Razor 1-10 if you can find one. I own NF and Kahles LPVO's and prefer the Kahles. The field of view, reticle(SM1) and smooth controls are appreciated every time I take a shot.

    Advanced Marksmanship Barrel speed up?

I did not use mandrels until having custom dies made recently. The guys at Forster made a good argument for the rationale. I size down just enough that the mandrel expands the neck by only a few thousanths. My concerns of pulling the case out of concentricity and additional work hardening are...

    Advanced Marksmanship Barrel speed up?

I've experienced this with a few rifles and found carbon deposits and work hardening of the case neck to be the variables at fault. Ambient temperatures and powder sensitivity should also be considered if you haven't already. The solution... A good bore scope and annealing method to keep things...

what are you guys using for tough tactical combat pants?

+1 for the Kuhl's. They have great pockets and freedom of movement. "The Law" are the heaviest that I have and I reserve them for hard use. They are not my favorites because they are not as comfortable/breathable as the rest of their pants. I wear the "renegades" much more often because of the...

Ops Core Headset with Motorola EX500?

Anyone know of a solution that will allow use of OPS Core Amp headsets (U-94, Amphenol or Fischer connector) with Motorola EX500 radios? (M5 multi pin) I already have M5 adapters that will allow common 3.5mm connectors, which may or may not help. I understand the number of contacts and...

Rifle Scopes Trijicon Credo 2-10x36 FFP Review

Great job on the review. I'm interested in one of these and have questions about the fixed parallax. Trijicon doesn't quote the range, but I'm assuming 100 or 150 yds. Did you notice any lack of sharpness at long ranges?

Rifle Scopes Best scope to buy for overall use? 100 yard/ 1000 yards - Hunt/competition/varmint.

Lots of good suggestions above.... There is truth in all of them. The long range/short range/ hunting/multi caliber question opens up a real can of worms. At this point, based on your questions and intended use. I'd suggest the ZCO 4-20 in a Spuhr mount with an RDS. Expensive, yes - Pretty darn...

Rifle Scopes Long Range Scope that can transition to short range?

You can trace that decision back to supply chain realities dating back to WWII. In a different universe, we'd have a single infantry caliber in 7mm or thereabouts. In our current reality, the guns are built to chamber the millions of rounds already in existence. Everything happens for a...

Rifle Scopes Razor HD Gen III 1-10 In Stock Anywhere?

I just checked EuroOptic. They have an availabilty disclaimer, but you can add the MOA version to your cart. The MRAD version is a backorder.

Diy shooting table to be left outside ideas?

The fact that you own the property suggests doing the job right so you can enjoy it long term. It's nice to have it work reliably you when you arrive - year after year. I built a masonry block and concrete table at my range 20 years ago that will still be there long after I'm dead. It's...

    Repeatability of takedowns

Great question. After shooting a few Tacsol takedowns, I found them to be ok for what they are intended for, which does not include receiver mounted optics. For varminting, I found the greatest satisfaction with a ground up build using a volquartsen carbon fiber barrel and a Tacsol action The...

Rifle Scopes What scopes are you hoping for at Shot Show 2018?

Vortex Razor AMG 2-10x36 with gen 2 mildot. Perhaps a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 compact FFP with lower profile turrets. It baffles me that nobody makes a sub 20 oz scope like this already. Yes, the new 1-8's are close, but I'll give up 1.1x to have 10x on top without compromising the quality of the...

I should have used the case gauge

It's as safe as any other snub nosed .223 with a 50 lb trigger pull... It depends on where it's pointed. I'd operate under the assumption that a compressed powder charge could push an anvil hard enough to cause ignition. Depending on the length of the press, it might require an NFA stamp.

Rifle Scopes SWFA 12x42 or 16x42 for .223 varminter?

Now I'm waiting in line for mine to be built... They're backordered at SWFA and none available used!

Rifle Scopes SWFA 12x42 or 16x42 for .223 varminter?

Thanks for the advice! Pretty easy to see that a 12x is the way to go.

Rifle Scopes SWFA 12x42 or 16x42 for .223 varminter?

Bender, how is the glass on the 3-15 vs. the fixed power scope?

    Rifle Scopes Mark 6 3-18 Question/Problem

I bought a Mark 6 3-18 last year and ended up selling it because of what I deemed to be optical anomalies. I chalked it up to the complexity of the optics required to get such a large zoom range in a scope so small. I compared it side by side in a binocular jig I built against a NF F1 for many...

Rifle Scopes SWFA 12x42 or 16x42 for .223 varminter?

Hello all, Looking for comparison between the glass on these 2 budget SWFA scopes. This is for a Contender carbine I have had for years wearing a Leupold 4.5-14x40 with mil dot. The 14x works great for my purposes and I like the size and weight, but want to go with milrad adjustments...

Tripod and mount for spotting scope recommendations

Stretch, Disregard this if you shoot prone, at a crowded range where you can't spread out, or you mind lugging a 7.5# tripod. The Zhumell astronomical tripod(TR-197-16) is unbelievably sturdy, easy to use companion for your scope and only costs $100. I tried lighter, smaller tripods and they...

    Rimfire Ammo Questions

+1 on this.... My testing over the years has shown that subsonics generally shoot tighter across a variety of rifles than supersonic ammo. It made sense to me after reading about the effects of trans-sonic shock waves on the projectile. Wish I would have bought pallets of the good stuff (Eley...
