Gunsmithing Vertical Crosshair to Barrel Bore

Re: Vertical Crosshair to Barrel Bore Drop a 30mm (or 1", depending on the ring size), long enough to extend beyond the muzzle, with a hole drilled into 1 end, into the rings. Put on the ring caps, and drop a weighted string from the hole on the end of the rod. Check its alignment with the bore.

    need advise

Re: need advise I'd suggest a Rem 700. Lots of accessories and stock configurations to let you build what you want and the way you want it. The 6.5x47Lapua and .260 Rem are very close in ballistics and good choices that will give you the lower recoil you're looking for. You might also...

best low cost self install 700 trigger?

Re: best low cost self install 700 trigger? You'll be pleased with the Timney. It has a wider trigger shoe, easy to adjust, and a crisp break. I have a couple of them and am very happy with their feel.

Difference between rem.700 LA VS .338 Lapua

Re: Difference between rem.700 LA VS .338 Lapua I converted one, using a PT&G bolt. I didn't have to do any work to the bolt stop. It ejects mag length rounds without any difficulty. If you load longer than mag length, you may have an issue ejecting the loaded rounds. Threads were the Rem...

    Surgeon Action Pricing

Re: Surgeon Action Pricing I have all Remington's. All have been trued up and function very well, and are extremely accurate, once the factory barrel has been replaced. I'm not looking for anything fancy. There's a lot to be said for the custom actions, and if that's what you want, there...

1 piece or 2 piece base?

Re: 1 piece or 2 piece base? attherange hit it! if you need more elevation in your scope, for the distances you shoot, one piece is the easiest way to achieve that. I've never had a problem loading with a one piece base. It's just something you get used to.

Bell & Carlson vs. HS Precision

Re: Bell & Carlson vs. HS Precision I've used both the H&S and B&C. I like the palm swell on the H&S better. Beyond that, B&C hands down. I have a couple of A5's and 2956's. They are solidly build and weighty in the butt to offset the weight of the heavier barrels. The H-S are hollow in...

    Opinions on Rem 700 triggers.

Re: Opinions on Rem 700 triggers. I have both the Shilen and Timney. I prefer the Shilen, only because of the narrower trigger shoe. Both are easily adjustable and have a clean, crisp break.

    Rem 700 stock questions

Re: Rem 700 stock questions You can open the barrel channrl in the future, as well as re-inletting to accept Badger or any other bottom metal. Keeping the ADL configuration is totally up to you. If you want a different trigger guard and bottom dump magazine, or a DM system, that's your...

    Stock contour..HELP

Re: Stock contour..HELP Heavy barrel and MTU are not necessarily the same contour with different stock makers. You need to check the largest diameter they will accept, and compare to the dimensions of your MTU, or get their 'heavy barrel' channel and cut the stock to fit, if it doesn't. Take...
