    Are Berger bullets really better?

I guess that means no one at all should ever bother using it since it's trash

Preference for basic die sets - RCBS, Forster, Hornady or other?

I prefer RCBS. I have some redding. I just noticed my 6.5 CM redding sizing die, the cases would fit a case gauge. Called redding and they said tuff crap, if it fits the gun it's fine. I will never buy there stuff again. I like my ammo to fit any gun I own now and future not just the the brass...

    Are Berger bullets really better?

I agree only testing two bullets wouldn't show much. I actually tested more. I ran Barnes MBs and Lapua 105 Scenars. Just wrapping that up now. I also decided that since I only have ever used SMKs in my 6.5 CM I would try hornady and berger as well and maybe some more for that too. I did weigh...

    6.5 CM Bullet Comparator

They don't go by caliber especially because in the same caliber bullet shapes with vary thus requiring possibly a diff # for the same caliber with a diff bullet. I have never seen that but it wouldn't shock me. I mean it is supposed to be the same since we are talking about where it touches the...

    Are Berger bullets really better?

Hornady are definitely all over the place as far as weight and the bergers i have been weighing are very consistent. With 105s I didn't see much of a performance difference (there was some but not HUGE) between bergers and hornady. I tried some barnes and I got mich worse results. Now I am...

Stop all that prep, oh and seating tests are bullshit, love Hornady

They said something to the effect of "seating tests are pointless, just load to mag length because you are wasting time and energy" I could be paraphrasing.

Stop all that prep, oh and seating tests are bullshit, love Hornady

I guess your "definition" of minimal is much different than mine. Most of my guns don't shoot .1-.3 most shoot .4-.5 all day. But that is only achievable with ammo that is tuned to the rifle with my "small sample". If I could stop sending flyers I could likely get smaller groups. But even with...

Stop all that prep, oh and seating tests are bullshit, love Hornady

They are for sure just doing marketing. But I wonder if the moronic things they claim such as seating depth not making a difference, I wonder if they realize how dumb they look. I am not laughing with them, but at them. Making claims like that along with other things like small sample sizes not...

Duplicate FPS from 24" barrel with a 16" Barrel

This^^ People forget that you stop getting more velocity as the barrel gets longer then velocity starts to go down. With Subs you may very likely see higher FPS with an 18" instead of 24"

Stop all that prep, oh and seating tests are bullshit, love Hornady

Can't see the video. But I tend to keep youtube on in the background at work. I almost made a threat talking about this very thing. It seems the guys on those hornady podcasts think reloading should be for getting groups roughly about 1 moa and that's it. I laughed at almost everything they...

Why is the 6mm Dasher so popular?

I actually have a take off 308 rem 700 PSS or is PPS barrel. My first 6.5 CM I built on one of those rifles. and never ended up using the barrel. Eventually I will use it for something.

Why is the 6mm Dasher so popular?

To be honest I probably don't shoot well enough that I would see the drop off in accuracy anyway. And with how I keep building new toys, I may never wear a barrel out anyway. Heck I just took a 6.5x47 LP that I bought used with about 2K through it and bumped it back to 6.5 CM so it's a new...

Why is the 6mm Dasher so popular?

I don't have a lot of free time. I enjoy making a barrel, but to me it's like when I work on one of my cars. I enjoy tinkering on my chevelle.....I don't want to fix something broken on one of my other vehicles. So if I can get more barrel life and still have accuracy, it means longer until I...

Why is the 6mm Dasher so popular?

    I think it's a 26". I will have to check.

Does anyone still use case gauges?

also I just learned it looks like redding dies are not suited to a Dillon 650. I don't really use my rock chucker much anymore. But I am seeing that Redding dies are meant to be used with their shell holders and will fall a little short of full sizing if using a standard shell holder. Supposedly...

Does anyone still use case gauges?

I do measure with a comparator. I only bump the shoulder back .002". But they still fit in a case gauge (at least 99% of them do).

Does anyone still use case gauges?

I think he was being satirical implying he doesn't bother.

Does anyone still use case gauges?

you measure the base with a micrometer? I could but a case gauge is faster for myself. I did however measure the base of a few with a mic to verify which part of the case was and was not being sized enough to cause it not to fit in the gauge. someone mentioned gas guns. I totally forgot and...

Does anyone still use case gauges?

It was meant to be funny. Like how old fudds says clip instead of mag or a certain group of young people call every pistol a glock...and put something called a "beam" on them.

Why is the 6mm Dasher so popular?

What I wonder is how much barrel life do you give up getting an extra 100-150 fps? I get 2800fps with 105 bergers in BR with Alpha brass and CCI BR4 primers. 28.9 grs of varget. I went back and forth on BR, dasher and GT. I wanted barrel life so I went BR.
