    got the stick..need the scope

Re: got the stick..need the scope The Falcon is FFP. It was about $400 when that was a hot scope about 4-5 years ago. Watch the classifieds and I'm sure you can get one for less.

    got the stick..need the scope

Re: got the stick..need the scope I have been running a Falcon 4-14 on my trainer. They have fallen out of favor some since I bought it a few years ago, but mine has done everything I've needed. It's not nearly as nice as the SS 5-20 that I have on the 308, but it doesn't need to be either...

OCT. 2012 SH LONG RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Re: OCT. 2012 SH LONG RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS Thanks oneforall. I thought it was close. Would rather be hard on myself. I've yet to shoot with expensive ammo, so I'm excited to get a brick of Wolf to try. I like the Federal, and have a lot of it, but I hope for a little better.

    Learnings from Rimfire Comp Thread

Re: Learnings from Rimfire Comp Thread Just wanted to say thanks to those of you active and posting on the forum. I've been a lurker for longer than I've been shooting, and I've learned a ton. I just shot my first 100 yard target for score, and I'm happy with the results. I wouldn't be...

    New baby 700 5R

Re: New baby 700 5R Very cool. I bought a SPS Tac in 308 this fall, and upgraded to a HS stock from the Houge. I didn't like the chin weld, so bought a Karsten cheek rest. I like it so far. Easy to mount, and works well in prone. I bought a SS 5-20 off this site, and I wouldn't know what...

Re: Anyone in IL who actually SHOOTS in IL??? Another happy Aurora Sportsman member here. I have only been a member for a little over a year, but haven't had anything but great experiances there. I'm looking at a move coming up, and am sad that I may have to leave the club.

Anyone use these cheek risers on rifles?

Re: Anyone use these cheek risers on rifles? I don't have experience with the Brownells piece, but I have just installed a Karsten. I love it. Easy to put on, solid, and looks good. Service was quick too.

    accuracy with pulled bullets

Re: accuracy with pulled bullets I bought some of the pulled 175 SMK's from RMR. I'm very new to the 308, so I don't trust myself to get the last little bit from my rifle yet. I shot a ten round group at 100 yards with them that was 1.2, opened up to 1.7 with a flyer. A 5 round group was...

Advice for a newb and my 308... UPDATED

Re: Advice for a newb and my 308... UPDATE: I loaded the balance of my fresh Lapua brass with 43g Vaget, pulled 175 SMK's, and Wolf primers. Went to the 100 yard range last week, and shot about 20 rounds to sight in the new SS, and then get used to this thing. Finally, I shot a 10 round...

Advice for a newb and my 308... UPDATED

Re: Advice for a newb and my 308... Awesome advice guys. I'm decent with my .22 out to 200 yards, but this 308 is new. I'm going to load a bunch of 43g loads and get used to it all. I re-watched some of the online training videos, and I found all sorts of bad habits... The .22 is a great...

Advice for a newb and my 308... UPDATED

Re: Advice for a newb and my 308... Knowing you're not good is easy when you know you can work to fix it. I think knowing your rifle is crap is worse. If I go with 43 grains, what would be expected group size? Is 1 MOA reasonable to expect?
