Who has custom 243 bolt guns??

I have something probably a little different that what you're thinking, but it's a fun rifle regardless. SA 700, BDL bottom Alaskan T.i. stock Shilen #3 1-8" 243 AI chamber It shoots the 105 A-Max and 80 TTSX nicely, and weighs about 8lbs with a scope.

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

Wow, this thread is unhealthy. My 7WSM build was looking so pretty, too. Might have to trade my 7mm Broughton #3 for a 6.5 #3 of some sort....grin

More testing of my Longrifles Inc 6 Creed.

I would scrub the barrel to bare metal, start laying down moly, and then never clean the thing again.

300WSM build on a short acton ?.............HELP!!!!

Well how's it throated? The HS DBM should give you at least 2.900" of COAL latitude, correct? If you throat it to be able to kiss the 208 at mag length, rest assured that every bullet with a shorter ogive will also hit lands from within the box.... I'd make up a few dummies that are like...

Did you see my GAP videos last summer? What would you like to see this summer?

I'd like to see you come out to Colorado and do a collaboration with me, and bring some GAP Rifles! grin!

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

Bummed I couldn't make it, things just didn't work out with friends that wanted to come with. Next year should be quite a bit easier.... I've heard the same regarding the nice weather....grin

    Pro-Precision-Rifles - customer work pics.

Paul, You do some gorgeous work man. Congrats on doing something that you love and putting out great product!! What's your current turnaround time on a 700 bolt, just to be fluted and possibly coated?

    260 build on long action

I'd be a bit surprised to see 2900+ with a 140 via a 6.5x55, but wouldn't totally doubt it. Good luck, either way! Should be a fun one.

    260 build on long action

I'd consider a straight 6.5-06 before a 6.5x55 or .260 on a LA. A guy could run the 140s up to 3050, or keep them at 2900 to save the throat. 25-06 brass is cheap, and the extra velocity on tap would be nice. Pretty much a win/win.

Show me some Coyote Tan Cerakote!

    Damn that's nice. Thanks Buster.

Show me some Coyote Tan Cerakote!

Thinking about a having a lightweight 243 AI completely cerakoted in Coyote Tan..... will some of you guys throw up some pics of this color? A whole rig done up in it would be great to see for comparison.... thanks!

    6CM vs 6CM....huh????

I can't imagine there's enough recoil shooting a 105 at any speed near 3200, with ANY load/rifle combo to complain about, but that's just me.....

    6CM vs 6CM....huh????

7828 works quite well in my 243 AI, bet it'd be a sure go in the Comp Match and would likely provide great velocity.

7 MM WSM or 7 MM Rem Mag

Gotcha', this makes sense. Those 180 Hybrids must be stupid long... Thanks for the info!

7 MM WSM or 7 MM Rem Mag

Correct me if I'm wrong but most DBM's will extend a SA's COAL latitude to dang near 3.0", correct? If the action/mag mortise is handle d correctly? I've got some dummies sitting at home with 162s in WSM cases, and also the 175gr Matrix seated in a WSM case, and I can't see that loading them...

7 MM WSM or 7 MM Rem Mag

Oh, here's some stuff for you to look at. I personally subscribe to the thinking that shorter, chubby cases shoot better, but long old school belted mags can post up bugholes, too! This is a factory 7mm Remington barrel- rifle weighs 9.5lbs. Nothing beyond 1k in these pics, but I'm gathering...

7 MM WSM or 7 MM Rem Mag

If you've got a long action, there's no reason to not take full advantage of 3.6" box and go with a 7 Rem. My 7 Rem hammers with 162 A-Maxes- Retumbo drives 'em to 3150, but the load that shoots the best features 7828 and the 162 going 2960ish.... 7WSM and 7SAUM are also excellent carts, but...

Great groups at 500 yds but crappy ES

My 7RM posts atrocious consistency on the chrony, but I pay attention to where the splashes are on the steel more than anything. If you can, I'd shoot it from 500-1000 in 100yd increments and see what kind of vertical is produces. ES might not matter, even though it sounds foolish to say....
