Better "flash hider"? Muzzle brake? How to get rid of this ridiculous fireball...

After looking around quite a bit, I'm going to try out a smith vortex as suggested by Ranger1183. I saw their videos then looked into it a lot more, and that hider seems to tame even the most extreme of flashes when compared to other types. I'd love a can for it, but that's later on and not...

Better "flash hider"? Muzzle brake? How to get rid of this ridiculous fireball...

Yeah I know that, but like previously stated, no problems with our Savages shooting the same loads, and even an AAC in 16" as well. That's why I think it's the birdcage style that just plain sucks or is doing something that I don't understand.

Better "flash hider"? Muzzle brake? How to get rid of this ridiculous fireball...

44grns, standard COAL for use in a few different rifles, SMK 168's, neatly prepped brass, Federal 210's... Pretty common .308 load, so it SHOULDN'T be the components. If I don't buy another hider like the Smith mentioned above which seems pretty damn impressive at eliminating the flash, I'll get...

Better "flash hider"? Muzzle brake? How to get rid of this ridiculous fireball...

It's not only real low light, it's quite visible when it's just darker from being overcast and the sun isn't covering it up. I just think there has to be a BETTER option than the one on there as even my gas guns don't do this. Just a bad combo or what? I'm shooting my match handloads with...

Better "flash hider"? Muzzle brake? How to get rid of this ridiculous fireball...

So I was out sighting in my new Vortex 1-4 on my Ruger gunsite and it was going well... Until it got dark(er). That 16" barrel with the birdcage flash hider must bring out the worst possible flame that can be summoned from a .308. Not seeing the benefit of it. Completely blinding through the...

    Decent Safe for under $1000

Well aren't we just Mr. Positive! Haha. It works for my needs and budget and probably for 90% of the people that buy one. Won't prevent as much as a 4k safe, but guess what, its what 90% of those people can afford. I'm not going to NOT buy one because I can't afford that. Lighten up!

Done setting up my new "everything" gun!

It's a Triad tactical stock pack. Has a pouch on the other side.

Done setting up my new "everything" gun!

Since the birth of this rifle a few years back, it has taken it's share of verbal abuse by everyone. This is partly due to (I believe) Ruger's advertising and half-way designing it as a "scout" gun. It is not really a scout gun though after owning it and researching, but more of a "practical...

hidden history in my type 99!

I haven't shot it, and probably won't. I have a ton of other rifles to shoot regularly without shooting my old ones like this. I'm sure it will fire, but I like it in the safe as a collection piece better.

    Decent Safe for under $1000

I got my fatboy Jr. A few months back and am super happy. Its what I need as I will not spend 4k on a safe. I thought it through and picked this one since it is constructed beeter than most around its price when looking at seams, locking, fire rating, tamper resistance.

hidden history in my type 99!

That would be so cool to find... I'm happy with sand lol So I finished cleaning her up. MAN is this thing in GREAT condition. All biased views aside, I think this may be one of the nicer ones I have ever seen outside of armory museums which makes me very happy. Here it is all cleaned up! Here...

hidden history in my type 99!

Yeah actually I think I'm going to filter the grease out of it to clean up the sand and dirt starting with a coffee filter. It's not a lit of sediment, but still enough to see in a vial or something!

hidden history in my type 99!

So I decided that I wanted to take apart my inherited type 99 that is now stored in my safe with all my other old rifles and clean it up so its protected all the way through. I've NEVER cleaned past what I could see as I never wanted to touch anything and mess with it. Well, I pulled out the...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST Wear

True about using it, but when there is SO much of a product out there that is talked about a lot, like most of Vortex's stuff, you tend to hear about it a lot more as well... So it also seems like a lot more. But yeah, hasn't stopped me as I just purchased a PST today!

Rifle Scopes SportOptics.com.. Fantastic SH vendor and service

After waiting for order for quite some time from OpticsPlanet (who I usually go to for most things), I started looking around and called Jay at Sportoptics to see about a PST 1-4 in MRAD that showed out of stock. Turns out, they had some! so he hooked me up with one with a great SH discount as...

    Accuracy International 10 Rd Mags

Holy shit that's expensive. I've seen them other places for around $72 that have them in stock. Brownells just had them in stock a week or so ago when I was looking for that much.

    Long term rifle/ammo storage

Cheap solution for ammo: Plano gasket sealed/watertight storage containers... $10. Grab a pack of silica gel packets for next to nothing, and throw a couple in. You can fit ~10 boxes of full sized ammo in one. I love them. http://www.planomolding.com/product.php?BCCID=115&PID=908 I bought mine...
