Rifle Scopes what's the best way to take through-the-scope pics

Re: what's the best way to take through-the-scope pics The smaller the camera lens diameter, the easier it will be to get a picture. Cell phones and point and shoot cameras are easier to get pictures with than professional grade SLRs. If you're using an SLR, make sure you shoot the picture...

Rifle Scopes Need a little help...(stupid question)

Re: Need a little help...(stupid question) If you're hitting to the right, you need to correct clockwise. To figure out how much they need to be rotated will depend on their height above the bore line, as well as other factors such as the exterior ballistics. Knowing this information is...

why the resurgence of the scout rifle?

Re: why the resurgence of the scout rifle? The Ruger ignored the significance of the original configuration by going with AICS mags. I'm not sure if the scout concept was ever supposed to make use of stripper clips, but it certainly had top loading in mind. Since you can't top load the...

Rifle Scopes US Optics ST-10 vs. SN4 1.5-6x ordering questions.

Re: US Optics ST-10 vs. SN4 1.5-6x ordering questions. I can answer at least some of your questions, having owned a couple of ST-10s. 1. Yes. I'm pretty sure if you do left side windage they can just put the illumination on the other side. 2. It's physically larger, the click spacing is...

    Rifle Scopes how it works?

Re: how it works? I've never bothered to work out the physics of what's going on in the lens system, but I think it's similar to how a tilt-shift camera lens affects what you see in the viewfinder of a camera. Basically, if you shift the lens up, it shifts the image up; shift it right, and...

    Buffer spring effect on accuracy???

Re: Buffer spring affect on accuracy??? Wow, you just don't know when to quit. There's no longer anything resembling basic physics in your argument. Since you don't seem willing to take my word for it, here's something you should be able to understand: 1. Go to JBM ballistics. 2. Click on...

Rifle Scopes Ring Standards and Level Scopes

Re: Ring Standards and Level Scopes While not a bad idea, it assumes that the rings will always be sitting level with the receiver. If such a system were in use, variations in base and receiver dimensions might force you to mount an optic canted, whether you wanted to or not. Something...

Range Report calculating MV and BC from drop?..anyone know how?

Re: calculating MV and BC from drop?..anyone know how? Did anyone actually read the 15 words in the post? He's not asking if you can, he's asking if you know how to do the math. I don't know the formulas for trajectory calculations, but I'd suspect they're systems of differential equations...

Rifle Scopes AO (lack) in some high $ scopes

Re: AO (lack) in some high $ scopes I doubt he's talking about adaptive optics, since those are reflector-type systems employing highly complex computer controlled mirrors. That would be a bit cumbersome to build into a riflescope. Pretty sure he's just talking about parallax adjustment...

Old 6 digit non-prefix Model 700 Action Question

Re: Old 6 digit non-prefix Model 700 Action Question I've used a few older 700/721/722's and have never had a problem with a base not fitting properly. I've used Badger bases on all of those types, and never did I feel they needed to be shimmed or bedded. An exception to that was when I...

    Rifle Scopes Fixed 10X ?

Re: Fixed 10X ? For the money, I don't know of a better scope than the SS 10x. You think you won't be happy with it, but you might be surprised. They track well, have decent glass, a well proportioned reticle, and loads of elevation travel. The one I have has 130+ MOA. Unlike the...

Rifle Scopes Is this a common issue with the tracking on these?

Re: Is this a common issue with the tracking on these? It's possible your base or rings shifted a little. A shift as small as .002" could cause a change in point of impact that large. If the scope is otherwise tracking normally, I'd look at the mounting hardware first.

Rifle Scopes NF F1 vertical track test

Re: NF F1 vertical track test Was the comparison with the 5.5-22 done on the same day from the exact same firing position at the exact same target? If not, it's probably more likely that you were off on your ranging by two yards.

Rifle Scopes Need a little help please

Re: Need a little help please Most of the rifles that I have that can mount match sights also have scope bases on them. I'm currently using Badger and Nightforce 20 MOA bases on various 700's and model 70's, and have no issues with the sights interfering with the bases. If you currently...
