    Van Orden Winchester M-70 's

Those receivers are not exactly the same as what's being produced now. They have clip slots, and the trigger is a design that enables adjustment through the tang, for pull weight and overtravel. Guys talked above about straight-grain walnut in the samples from the '50s, but those had tight...

    Van Orden Winchester M-70 's

On the bottom of the list of shipped rifles is one for Carl Byas. I shot with Carl in Temple, TX in the '70s. Very smooth bolt running, and solid position. And like most hipower shooters, a genuinely nice guy.

    Forster Benchrest Seating dies

Get a Lee Dead Length bullet seating die. Use it awhile, since it's real cheap, then consider buying the Forster if you want to spend more money. I seat initially with the Forster, to establish alignment, then seat the final 8-10 thou with the Lee seater, since it provides the absolute best...

Range Report Cold bore 500 yards daily

You've done the test honestly, and you got a very good result. Basically, I'd say you are as good as anybody at cold-bore, IAW the program as laid out. It certainly shows the absurdity of cherry picking groups or shots. I know it's a royal pain, but your plan to work on gear and techniques, then...

    KRG Bravo question

The screw that retains/tightens the mag release in the chassis has to be at the correct tension, otherwise what you're seeing will happen. I had to try different screw tensions, then found the one that gave slight mag movement when inserted, but kept the mag in place well enough to feed...

Range Report Cold bore 500 yards daily

I'd be amazed if anybody could put one cold-bore shot on a 1 MOA target at 500 yards for 10 consecutive days, through any weather that shows up. Do this in the Fall, Winter, or Spring; not summer consistent weather. Those 10 shots need to be the only shots out of the rifle during the testing...

    Reloading fun

I'd rather reload than eat. During covid, I'm running about a thousand cases through the small-base die, since they've been reloaded so much some of them are getting fat. I'm down to my target weight.

Range Report Cold bore 500 yards daily

About 10 shots, maybe 11. I think it was spread out over a couple of weeks.

Range Report Cold bore 500 yards daily

I did this almost 10 years ago, shooting at 450 yards. I shot from various positions - bipod, sitting, fencepost, car hood, you name it. One shot a day for about 10 trips to the range. Wind, rain, all weather, no matter. This was a hunting rifle, not a target rifle, shooting my hunting load...

    Bergara HMR Pro 6.5 CM

I shot somebody else's Bergara the other day, to check its accuracy using my handloads. I warmed up the barrel with a 1.25" 10-shot group, then shot a 0.375" 5-shot group when I used the second load I brought (only had 5 of that load). It's a 22" barreled Hunter model. Very fine rifle.

    Big Horn action question

Rethreading/shouldering/chamber modification will cost more than a Southern Precision or Northland prefit, and will take longer.

Training Courses Need Recommendation for a long range training within the New Orleans area

Go to the F-class matches in Donaldsonville, and talk to the shooters there. They are some of the best in the world. Take whatever you have, and shoot it. They will help; then see what you need from a training course. They also probably know of some courses. I don't know how many courses...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 380 for wife to carry.

Colt Mustang PocketLite. Only 6 round capacity in mags, but you can carry more than one. Very good trigger and sights, 1911 ergos, light recoil despite its size, and good in smaller hands.
