I feel like I am missing something important.

Yep there is enough there. Have your smith take off one full thread from the shoulder and also where the barrel seats inside the action and re-chamber.

    1943 Izhevsk

It sounds like there were a bunch imported a few years ago and threaded for the Mosin but have not been available for over two years now if I read it correctly. @OP, damn nice rifle, well done.

Type-s FL die runout - Help, what am I doing wrong?

Are you measuring the runout after sizing the neck and before seating the bullet? In a lot of cases that .003 of runout will disappear after seating (I'm using the Redding competition seater).

Are IMI match brass .308 any good?

It is worth every bit of $.50 per piece if its new. Zediker raves about the stuff for like a whole page in his handloading for competition book which is service rifle / highpower oriented.

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

That's where most of my material comes from, other cops, and gun stores.

    Let's talk chronographs

Ugh now I have to go and sell another pile of M91/30's to buy more gear. I'm pretty much sold as well.

    Let's talk chronographs

Has anyone heard any rumor on what the LabRadar is going to cost? I just signed up for their email list. I was saving up for a magneto but this looks like a whole different ball game.

Some guns just never go away

Its a lighter bolt. The M1917 is like a full on cock-on-close Mauser 98 and you have to slam the bolt home before you rotate it down using your own hand power to compress the majority of the firing pin spring. The SMLE is like the mini-me version.

    My first Swede

That's a nice rifle Layton . How is it as far as matching serial numbers? I too just got my first Swede. Mine is a 1941 Husquvarna, matches my push-mower and weed-wacker. Sadly I do not have any ammo for it yet. Bore is so sharp it could cut patches I'm itching to shoot it.

    Longest Shooting Surplus Rifle

The K31's are nice pieces. There are a few reasons I don't put them at the top of my accuracy list. They may very well be the most accurate surplus rifles that were ever available, but they have the unfair advantages of never using corrosive ammunition, little to no use in most cases outside...

    Longest Shooting Surplus Rifle

This is one of the better discussions I've seen in a while. Very interesting. It is also interesting to see other people's experiences with different surplus rifles. As far as the .303 goes, remember, anything is practically more ballistically efficient than M2 ball. It's not really a fair...

    Longest Shooting Surplus Rifle

Read my first post, not just the second, and look at how I ranked rifles by themselves.

    Longest Shooting Surplus Rifle

Just in surplus arms and ammo its all about ammo quality and consistency not ballistic performance. US and German QC were both very good but M2 ball was not designed to perform at range. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

Any reviews of TiborasaurusRex's YouTube Vids?

Yes he does say in multiple videos to verify MV at several temperatures. His doctrine is making first round hits at ELR, which is different than a lot of us probably. I would give my left nut to know what he knows on reading wind.

Any Czech VZ 24 Experts Out There?

The R4 simply means it was the fourth R block, after rifle # 9999Z they went to 0000A1. The original Z block guns were completed and the A1 block started in the middle of 1926 production, but this serial number sequence was only done for rifles produced for Czechoslovakia. VZ-24's produced at...
