It's the tubes from my Argus quads - 24UAHs. Got some spots, but 37SNR and soooo nice on moonless nights.

    300 Norma Mag

N170 is a good alternative for that - similar charge weight, less heat, less throat erosion in exchange for a little speed.

MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

Depends on the clip-on. For example, an LPVO is a really good fit for the Voodoo-S because it has very little demag built-in, and there are other thermal clip-ons with similar constraints. 3x on the low-end is doable in most cases, but for example with the 4-16x ATACR it’s better to set the...

    BC Correction

Shotmarker is your friend. Put together a large frame so you can easily shoot through it at 1000+ yards; it’ll give you average velocity at the target which will help compute an accurate BC.

    Quick Load

Load Data from manufacturers > untuned QL data QL is extremely useful for ballparking new load combos, seeing what changes affect pressure/velocity, but out of the box it's not going to be accurate enough to match ground truth. I often end up having to tweak H2O volume on the case, and burn...

    MARS Zeroing

Zero the dot to the center of the reticle if you're going to do the method @SkyScrapin and I suggest. It doesn't matter about HOB because you're essentially working towards a parallel zero at distance. Use the HOB method if you're going to try to zero indoors or at a very short distance - like...

Yes, that's a good point - off-axis testing to confirm is icing on the cake.

    MARS Zeroing

I’ve been using the MARS for a while now and my solution is kind of stupid easy. When I move one to a new rifle, I go out at dawn or dusk and zero the laser to the reticle at 100-ish yards (where it’s obvious). Then I aim at a tree at least 500 yards away and confirm that it’s aligned to my...

Rifle Scopes DTII+ turret zero stop issue

You probably got an oddball. I had this same problem a few years back and S&B fixed it in a day (back when Jerry was still there) and I had the scope back quickly. The problem had to do with a bad detent in the turret, so with Jerry out of the picture you’ll probably have to go through S&B...

    338 Lapua Magnum

2500fps out of an 18” barrel. It was definitely on the ragged edge; wouldn’t run it that hard again but it served its purpose. Out of a 26” barrel most of my 300gr loads were around the 2650-2700fps range.

    338 Lapua Magnum

85gr of N570 is fairly mild in this case, but if it shoots well? With a 30” barrel and that load, getting to 2800fps should be pretty easy. Over the years shooting N570 with 300s, the sweet spot seemed to be between 89-92gr. I had a very good load using 92.7gr but it was really hard on the brass.
