Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

I found the problem. I have two bolt heads, and on both of them, one of lugs was machined improperly. The lead-in must have been cut with a worn-out tool, leaving burrs hanging off and less material removed. That makes all the pressure be put on that one lug as it is locking up, rather than...

Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

Those videos were helpful. I seem to have a tiny bit of cocking on close. Measuring the depth from the back of the bolt shroud to the face of firing pin head (the thing with the torx socket in the center of the back of the bolt) gives some insight as to what is going on. The bigger the depth...

    Anybody else have this issue?

Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

In that video, you can see that as the bolt unlocks and goes over the point where the catch is, the bolt head jumps up and to the left (toward the ejection side). It does the same in reverse when locking, but it's harder to see because it is moving fast after I overcome the catch.

Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

As I said in the original post, it has nothing to do with that pin. I watched the bolt rotate from the front, and it definitely has to do with the lugs locking up. Heres a video (with terrible lighting): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vXzcpIABjgMcl5iPqndPdoVwUksMVAqk/view?usp=drivesdk

Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

I'll have to do that. Playing around with it more, I've found that the more forward force applied, the less rotational force required. My guess is that the lugs are making contact on an angled surface and are not quite far enough forward to lock. To rotate and lock, they need to pull themselves...

Nucleus bump on close (renamed again)

I am putting together a Nucleus build, and am having an issue. The action cycles just fine by itself, but I added a Timney Calvin Elite trigger (without the Timney bolt release) and it now has a super noticable catch. It occurs as the bolt is rotating closed, and it takes what I'd guess is about...

    Table size?

I have my press bolted to the back bumper of the 5th-wheel I live in. If I can reload there, you can reload anywhere that is solid enough for a press. Definitely not ideal though!

    Bullet Boxes

Incorrect. This is regulated by the TSA, and last time I checked and flew, the only requirement was that there be no ammunition in the firearm (and of course, no carry-on).

    New Guy From NY

Welcome from Free America! This place helped me get started. Most of the precision rifle stuff I have I bought used here. Keep up the fight behind enemy lines :)

    Peterson brass

By the way, I love my Peterson 6.5 Creedmoor SRP brass. It is top quality for a good price.

    Peterson brass

As stated above, you may need to lower your powder charge. Another thing that can cause that is having lube left on the cases. I left too much on my first batch of Peterson, and about 1/5 of them had a hard bolt lift. No problems after I started making sure they weren't slick by the end of my...

Chick-fil-A No. 1? And What the Hell is a "Canes," Anyway?

The reason Chick-fil-A is my top pick is because of more than just the food. The biggest factor is service. I have never gotten bad service at CFA. In fact, excellent service is the norm, but they have never fallen below "good". Even when there is a huge line, they get you through fast. The...

Chick-fil-A No. 1? And What the Hell is a "Canes," Anyway?

I can understand why Chick-fil-A has by far the most States. That's what I would have voted for.

Chick-fil-A No. 1? And What the Hell is a "Canes," Anyway?

I'm really surprised in-n-out won in Texas. There aren't that many of them here. Maybe the poll was conducted in an area that has a lot? They are new to Texas, so I understand the appeal of something new. I just doubt that more than half of Texans have even eaten there.
