Rifle Scopes Has Premier Reticles fixed their Parallax binding issue?

Having dealt with QR levers on bikes for many years, I required no training to understand the cam lever. But the Heritage was too frickin' heavy. Then I had a non-illum LT and it was a good scope, no problems. But when SWFA came out with the SS 3-15 I had to ask myself why risk damaging a...

    Buy or Build 308

Nothing against buying one, but I found build was, at least for me, just as good and considerably cheaper. Since the .308 was my first AR variant, I had Rainier put together the upper and test fire it for an extra $100. Now I can do that myself...probably could have then. Still saved a lot. I...

Good to have the additional confirmation! ;-)

    Seekins Precision status..

Interesting. I was looking at the JP tension pin just the other day and was wondering about it. I may well get one now. Thanks for the info.

    Seekins Precision status..

Didn't the jam nut that came with the Seekins help with that? If I hold mine up to a light I can just barely see a bit shining through. There's no longitudinal play at all and just a slight bit side-to-side if I grasp the handguard and try to rotate the buttstock...not something that would...

New 6.8x43 Seekins/ARP rifle build done

Fortunately, the brass made it today. It'll be early January before I get out shooting though. My goal is to work up a good hunting load, preferably with 130 gr. Berger Classic Hunters. I was able to find two of the recommended powders locally (H335 and VV N530) but had to order 1200-R along...

Help with BCG selection on a Maten

I've had no problems with the JP and a Silent Capture Spring (along with a PRI adjustable gas block). There is one small detail that might annoy some shooters. You can't close the dust cover when the bolt is in battery.

New 6.8x43 Seekins/ARP rifle build done

Just finished the new build, which weighs in at a respectable 6.3 lbs. unloaded and, currently, unscoped. I'm just waiting on brass and the new set of rings. Specs: Seekins SP223 lower/MCSR upper, MCSR v2 9" rail, Seekins adjustable gas block, ARP 16" Scout 6.8x43 barrel, ARP bolt...

My story of fitness, which I hope can be an inspiration to someone...

That is a great story and inspiration. One thing I do to motivate is think about all the people who would kill just for the chance to be able to workout at all. The guys with the spinal cord injuries, the kids in wheelchairs, the morbidly obese. Once you get going, it's never bad. At the...

    Adjustable gas blocks

I've used the PRI on a 308 AR and it made a nice difference. I'm building a 6.8X43 and plan on running the hottest loads I can within safety and accuracy margins. I put a Seekins adjustable on it. In addition to the adjustable gas screw, there's a brass set screw which faces towards the...

Cant decide which way to go, bolt or semi-auto?

First, I'd see if you can arrange some time shooting at long range. Find someone with a capable rifle and optics who is willing to let you try it out enough to see if it's worth it to you. I had a sweet, sweet rig built off a Surgeon action and a KMW stock. I enjoyed shooting long range, but got...

Rifle Scopes Help Scope Bell Size for Elk Hunting

I went from hunting with a custom 14.25 lb. (fully loaded) rifle to 8.25 lb. and was so much happier. Previously, I'd hunted with a 20" LTR (about 10.5 lbs.) and was pretty satisfied. But the lighter rifle is easy to fire offhand and that made my elk hunting easy this year. Everybody has their...

need help with semi 308 shopping

Some good options. Last year, I went with a build on a Mega Arms MATEN ambi upper/lower set. Rainier supplied most of the parts, including an Ultramatch barrel. I went with a JP low-mass BCG and Silent Capture Spring as well as an adjustable gas block. I won't knock anybody else's choice, but it...

CMP has once-fired .30-06 brass for .20/rd shipped

Civilian Marksmanship Program eStore Average 250 per box / $49.95 I won't be needing any since I've saved all the brass I could recover. But not a bad price for those in need. Sigh, just 7 years ago, you could pay 25 cents shipped per LOADED round. Gotta go dig up a Youtube clip of Edith...

    at home built black rifle

+1 Rolling your own is generally only worth it when going high end...and the parts (although not always) will be better so less need for a warranty. I've built the equivalent of $3-5K AR .308s for a grand less. But building a $500 .223? Would only do it for the experience...and you can get that...

Rifle Scopes Zero stops for SWFA Super Sniper Scopes

I'd doubt anything could be damaged by using these. Especially if you know they're in there and don't keep mindlessly trying to crank the turret down. I never pushed hard on a NF or Premier turret to see how stout the zero-stop is. Anyone that's seen or read about the 2010 International Sniper...

Rifle Scopes Voertex Optics Never Ever Again!!!

What gets me is using up $300 in ammo to find out the scope has a problem. Even at today's prices, that's gotta be at least 200 rounds?!?

    AR15 Platform : which caliber for a "do-it-all" (almost) purpose rifle ?

Regarding the ballistics for 6.5 Grendel and 6.8X43, the Grendel has the advantage at any given bullet weight since the SD will be higher for the smaller caliber. In my case, there were other factors for choosing the 6.8X43: 1) I wanted an ARP barrel and bolt and ARP no longer supplies a 6.5...
