    Another thought..I know you wanted 300NM, but AI was involved with the development of the 300PRC, which is a more modern version of the 300WM, and slightly faster too. Same bolt as 300WM. Maybe buy the WM version, sell barrel, get custom 300PRC barrel? Not much difference between PRC and NM out...

    Where can i find 300 norma improved dies?

    Hi - i was thinking the same thing a few months ago.... i suspect that because the "improved" version of anything is not standardized, you wont find dies on the shelf. you will likely have to send fired cases to Whidden / whomever and custom make a die.

    7 SAUM Shooters- Action Length Question

    I can get 3000 fps from long action, 30" barrel, with long freebore, and 63 gr of H1000 under a 180 hybrid. And I have gone as high as 3050 fps with 65gr. Definitely recommend long action.

    Interested to find out more about the 300 LRC... seems to be based upon a shortened 338 Lapua case... What kind powder loads / velocities are you seeing there? I suppose a bit more spunk than the 300 WSM?

    maybe case growth? if the brass is substantially longer after the 1st 2 firings (you say 0.012"), it could "pinch" the bullet in the lead area of the chamber, thereby causing pressure?

    using virgin peterson brass on day 1, then reloading it for the next day's shooting? Fire-formed brass will act differently than virgin. My peterson brass is also quite short at the shoulder (i.e. "headspace" measurement) when new.

    interesting - i'm using a short - throated 6 Creedmoor, 44.5gr of H1000 and that gets me to 2930fps with a 115 DTAC, out of a 26" barrel. Using Alpha brass. I think the combo of short throat, thick brass, all reduce the volume inside the cartridge, thereby raising pressures, and giving me speed...

    6.5 mm brake on 6mm rifle

    i always use a break that is 1 size larger than i need (i.e. use a 6.5mm on a 6mm, or a 30cal on a 7mm) as i am paranoid about carbon build up in the break slowly closing diameter of the exit hole.
