    2000MR + 308 + 155 SMK Palma OCW test

Mad_Charlie actually I do do case prep on virgin brass. Even Lapua. I uniform the primer pockets, run them through a f/l die without the bushing and no bump of course, run a sizing mandrel down the neck, trim, debur and chamfer. I bought this jug of 2000mr about a year ago, did some preliminary...

MagnetoSpeed V2 V3 side by side

I shot the bayo on my V2 because I didn't bother to pull the bolt and look through the bore. I had just removed it from the same gun and was putting it back on so I didn't think I needed to but I didn't notice that a piece of the strap had folded over. Shot the tip right off that sumbitch. $125...

    Annealing brass

I also use the bench source. I just bought mine and am still working on getting the time just right. I had to smile at jbrand11's description of it being "inexpensive". His piggy bank is definitely bigger than mine. At $529 delivered I don't think it's inexpensive at all but I do think it's...

    2000MR + 308 + 155 SMK Palma OCW test

Finally got around to doing this. Wish I had gone one more step up to 48.9 but I thought I'd be seeing pressure signs by 48.6. Shot at 100 yds. I think I'm going to take the 48 to 48.6 out to 300 yds. See what happens. What do you guys think?

Bench-Source Annealer - how to convert yours to run on one 10lb propane tank.

Because of the rise in prices for all the parts needed and the lack of time to run around gathering them up to do this the way Killshot44 did his I started shopping around trying to find a less expensive solution. Here's my solution: 1 Y POL fitting (1 male, 2 female ends) s16, 2 coleman 5' high...

    308 brass sources?

If you find new Winchester brass let me know. I have been scouring the web looking for that stuff (308) for a while. It's scarce.

An air conditioner. It's going to get hot as hell in that sheet metal building in summer time.

    46 grs 8208!

I shoot 155gr SMKs out of my 308 and it works great. I'm getting ~3000 fps with 44.2 gr (30" barrel) and half moa groups at 300 yds. And as you've already discovered it's great in 223 too.

    46 grs 8208!

Reread the objectives of a OCW test. Your not looking for the smallest group. Your looking 2 and even better 3 groups in succession that hit the target in the same area. The only way your going to know if 46gr is your node is to shoot a group with 45.7, 46 and 46.3 gr and see where they hit on...

    Redding T-7 modifications

Mine was a little stiff out of the box. Oil the ram and all linkages and by the time you get 100 cases resized it'll be running smooth as silk. Also, if you haven't done so watch "mijp5's videos for some time saving tips on making precision ammo with the T7. Good stuff.

    Redding T-7 modifications

Sometime in the not to distant past I read a post about a mod to the turret of the press to get rid of some of the play. And of course even using search I can't find it. While I'm not detecting any slop on any part of my t7 I would like to find it again for future reference. My collection of...

Cleaning before sizing for bolt action?

I run my brass through a ultrasonic cleaner with dawn and lemi-shine for about 20 minutes before I anneal and size. After sizing they go into the tumbler with SS media and again dawn and SS media for a couple of hours. I like my brass shiny  But then I also f/l size and neck size each...

Redding Type S .308 Seating problems- Redding Customer Service leaves much to be desired

Caution! The watching of this video could cause you to run out and buy a T-7 press. Which in my case also caused a nag attack from the wife! You'd think that after 40 years she would have learned I don't listen :D

VIDEO - Ogive length and consistent seating to the lands

mijp5 Thanks for the videos. Unfortunately photobucket has blocked the first one because it was too popular. You might want to move them to youtube. I did get enough info from the second one to explain some things to me about consistent seating depth. It is kind of aggravating to spend ~$100 on...

    Quickload/ Quickdesign help!!!

I concur with Fred and Mad. Measure everything and play with it. Do a search for "quickload" on youtube. There's a couple of decent tutorials on there. And an even better tip sheet in pdf so you can print it out http://www.the-long-family.com/Tuning%20QL%20to%20achieve%20best%20results.pdf

    ocw Lost on this one

Thanks Dan. I'm hoping the 43.3 -5 node will give me the velocity I need. Your right on with the 223. I've been shooting the 23.8 node for a while. At 300 yds it is very accurate. When all goes well it'll do a .3 MOA

    ocw Lost on this one

By reading responses on other ppls and my OCW tests I'm starting to get the hang of reading the test results. But this one has me confused. Some help would be appreciated. This second test is a continuation of a earlier test I did with my 223 but I didn't go high enough. And still haven't...
