    build or buy 338 Lapua ?

    Could also go with a 7 mag/ultra-mag first until you get out past 1,200 or 1,400. Then take the big leap to 338. Rounds would cost like 1/2 as much to load.

    Sounds like my wife and I shooting together. Her spotting is pretty similar, "far right/far left". One day I'll get to 338 territory, but don't have $2000 lying around for the 110BA.

    I used to have one of these with a coated skinny barrel & 1:12 twist, shot great with 55 gr Vmax. Is yours the thick barrel & fast twist kind?

    Is a rangefinder a "necessary" part of LRS?

    I'd say go with a used Swaro LRF for like $700, it ranges way past your goal. Lifetime warranty, great glass. Get the $2k LRF when you upgrade to a 338LM or CT and can shoot a mile.

    What scope magnification primarily do you find yourself using when shooting ELR?

    Sounds similar to my setup, I shoot a 7mm RM with 162 Amax @ 2840 fps. Holds good groups at 1,100 yards on 66% IPSC steel target. More to the point, I use a SWFA fixed 12x mil/mil scope which has the same glass as the 3-15x FFP. The only problem you would have past like 1,200 yards is it gets...

    Love it, especially for the $. Only thing I had to do to make it better was use the blue Loc-Tite on the little turret screws to keep it from slipping bouncing around in the car. I'll probably get another one soon for my Savage varmint in 223.

    Yep. My 12x mil/mil SWFA is the same way, zeroed at the 2nd revolution mark. You're stuck that way unless you want your zero off by 10 mils.
