Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

The Gen1 is really repeatable! Got back from vacation yesterday and finally got to try it. Two groups on my 223 boltgun at 100 with and without the C35. Same offset I set it to for my AR. Took it off, put it on the AR to bang some steel, then put it back on the boltgun. The image is...

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

Someone needs to import the Praezise-Jagen products! Even a screw knob would at least make the Annex picatinny mount QD. Or maybe this kind of lever: You can index them, they're like a small pod-loc.

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

The bayonet isn't just for convenience, it's providing a shouldering interface when it locks up to maintain angular alignment. Since they aren't removing the clamp part, it maintains planar alignment. This makes sense.

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

Referencing a pixel isn't going to give any indication of angular alignment since the screen is at the back near at the mounting point. I think the only way to get consistent angular alignment is to have the mount shoulder on the objective bell squarely when the clamp is tightened. Think of it...

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

When you install it, is the rifle oriented horizontally or vertically (muzzle to the sky)? It might be more repeatable if installed with the muzzle pointing towards the sky since the thermal won't be putting any torque on the mount. If there is an internal face on the mount, make sure it's...

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

Even if the screen on the back and the camera/lens on the front of the thermal were perfectly aligned, the thermal would also need to be colinear with the scope. It isn't just the up/down/left/right position that matters, it's the angle the thermal sits at. Non-repeatability with clamp mounts...

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

I found a used Gen1 and went for it. Blackhawk Armory claims to have new ones still. They're a drop ship outfit, so I was skeptical...

Given the mounting issues, would it be better to get a Gen1 over a Gen2 (assuming you could find one)?

Would probably be pretty easy to add a ring to an ADM or LaRue bipod mount. Even if it was made of steel, it wouldn't add much weight. The bottom part could be kept thin so that it could go under larger diameter scopes. Could take out any chance of play between the parts by gluing them...

Night Vision Holosun IRIS 1/2/3/4 Official Discussion

DARQ Industries listed some yesterday and still lists them as in stock. Ordered one 28min. after he listed them, so hopefully I've secured one.

    51st state (Canada)

Canada already has that, it's called "Brampton", only it was 3 years for citizenship, no service and the only thing it secured was far-left governments. Oh, and one that's a wanted terrorist in India is the leader of the party propping up Trudeau's party.

That has to be recent! Are they widespread? Even to the reserves?

    51st state (Canada)

Shit that was obsolete in the 1990s is the newest "cutting edge" stuff in the CAF.

    51st state (Canada)

Canada doesn't fulfill it's NATO obligations either. And not just by a little. For example, Canada is supposed to provide 4 batteries of M777s for the defense of Europe (96 guns), but only had 37 of them. And this was before giving 4 to Ukraine. In all likelihood, a good number of them...

Firearms 22 Fat Rat Upper and all accessories

Willing to part out the 22 Fat Rat specific stuff from common parts (receiver, handguard, muzzle brake, etc...) if someone just wants them. The 22 Fat Rat stuff needs to go first before I part out the other stuff.
