It was my personal experience with a G M24, Zero MOA MARS and a Mark 4 M3 3.5-10x variable illum that I needed the 20 MOA because I couldn't engage targets beyond 800 meters, the scope elevation knob topped out. I had to get a 20 MOA MARS to compensate. I did not test the M3a Ultra scope on...

That looks like Torx screws. I couldn't tell you what size.

I understand your frustration. At this point, you are more likely to find the appropriate Redfield style front base than a lock nut for the OK Webber front base. They aren't quite as scarce.

Must be coats on top of coats of paint. If that's the case then it is indeed a new serial number because in those days, L & S prefixed the number by the two digit year. I would bet though that electro-penciled number matches the bar code.

That's a puzzling photo. The M3A scopes had markings that covered the bottom of the scope turret. If this is a M3A, they not only electro-penciled a new serial number but they defaced all the markings on the bottom. I see no trace of the M3A markings at all. If this was a later model M3 the...

Ghillie suits aren't confined to issue uniforms so this isn't uncommon. Not covering the face. . . . no paint or veil? Well he may be caught by the spotters soon. There's no rear sight base either so he may have thought them superfluous and removed them. Same for the scope base, that's a pic...

Longer yes but nothing tames the 7.62 better. My M24 suppressor is the best and quietest suppressor I own. It works every bit as good on my modified Mk12 Mod H too.

Though the serial number won't tell you the exact month when it was made, I think you can be certain that this is one from late 1988 or very early 1989. Don't let that go, that's a keeper.

The bolt forward of the bolt handle was coated in dry film lube, the handle and the rear portion, the firing pin and housing, were powdercoated. The underside of the bolt handle has the serial number letter prefix and the last four of the serial number engraved (stamped) matching it to the...

Just to be clear here folks before everyone gets too excited, the serial number range doesn't necessarily denote the date it was manufactured into a working firearm from Remington. The receivers are built in batches, serialized and then they're binned. Some of these receivers would be picked...

Dito to the above. There are no special markings denoting it as a A2. It was never an official military nomenclature, but more of a marketing name. There was also an A3 and two versions of A3, one with a HS stock and one with the Accuracy International stock.

This type of accuracy above and here below should be expected from the M24. If you have one and it doesn't print like what you see above, then its your ammo or you or a combination of both. Below I have some pics that I dug up from my recent past with my M24 to show what it can do BEYOND 100yd...

SPA Defense used to make a similar Laser/Light mount for the Simrad but they were limited and didn't last too long. In view of that fact, I got the next best thing, the Badger Ordnance SLAM (Side Laser Aiming Mount) that was intended for use on the M82 Barretts. To prove the concept, I drilled...

Looks like a good fit from this pics. There was one interesting unintended consequence with my PST026 modification. The AI magazine follower allowed the bolt to lock to the rear on ejecting last round like a semi auto bolt catch. The BDL version of the Badger DBM floor metal that is in my...

I converted a PST 026 stock to handle the M24 floor metal. The dimensions were the same around the edges, it's the aluminum pillars and the stock material around those pillars that have to be milled down. It was rather simple with an end mill but without that, it would be difficult. A...

That is true, thanks for that. Remington supplied the butt pads to HS Precision to screw on the butt rather than their customary glue on. They were thinner due to a collapsed overall length requirement in the contract.

Provided they read this stuff, yes. Newcomers rarely go back far enough in the threads, any threads, to see what has already been published. Doesn't help matters that the M24 thread here has gone through 3 or 4 generations and stuff gets lost in the change. Photobucket didn't help either when...
