Range Report Annealing and Velocity Change

I tried my hand at annealing yesterday and I think it turned out pretty good. I had some 6.5-284 brass that had been reloaded 7 times and I had started getting a few split necks so I figured what the heck, the cases weren't going to be any good anyway. Went to range today and I picked up 30 fps...

    6.5x284 reloading

    Re: 6.5x284 reloading I have had 2 6.5-284's and they have both liked RL22. I'm running 51.7 grs shooting 140 Bergers @ 2930 fps. The last rifle loved 123 Lapua's and 54.0 grs of RL22 @ 3150 fps. David

Berger 105VLD seating depth?? What working for you

Re: Berger 105VLD seating depth?? What working for you I have working up a load for a 6BR with 95 VLD's and to my surprise they are shooting a LOT better with a .025" jump. I tried seating them anywhere from .o15" into lands to .005" off of the lands and they just would not shoot. I tried...

Most accurate powders for the 22-250

Re: Most accurate powders for the 22-250 +1 on H380. I have had better luck with magnum primers. Nothing will flow through a powder measure as good as H380 so if you are loading large volumes this may be a consideration. David

    Range Report POI Shift

Re: POI Shift Sterling I'm not going to say that it can't be something I'm doing wrong but it's funny that I have several other rifles that I never have any problems with. As far as the 30 fps goes, I can see a difference at farther distances but I'm off the same moa no matter what the...

    Range Report POI Shift

Re: POI Shift Doc I'm leaning toward the scope too. I think I'm going to get a little extreme the next time at the range. I going to take a rubber mallet and do a little "light tapping" and see what happens. Sterling why do you think its the temp? Do you think that it may be affecting the...

    Range Report POI Shift

Re: POI Shift First guys I want to thank y'all for all the input. I going to try to give some more input. First off I'm shooting off of an adjustable front rest with a bag under the rear of the stock, no bipod. Sterling Shooter I pay very close attention to shooting form and breathing. Not...

    Range Report POI Shift

Re: POI Shift Sniper1 the scope is a NXS. I didn't put it in there because you always get into "it can't be scope because it's a Nightforce" or "you need to buy a S&B and get rid of the Nightforce". Grump the scope is the last variable that I can think of unless someone else point out...

    Range Report POI Shift

I have got a problem that I can't seem to fix. I have a rifle that the point of impact will change either up or down but sometimes it will hold the same POI for several range trips. The action has been in 2 different stocks that have been bedded correctly and the action screws are torqued the...

Gunsmithing Glue or epoxy for Neoprene?

Re: Glue or epoxy for Neoprene? Try the glue used to put Formica counter tops on. You apply a coat to each surface and wait until it starts to get tacky and then put them together. Word of warning; Get it where you want it the first time because there ain't going to be a second shot at it...

    Gunsmithing Remington replacement trigger?

Re: Remington replacement trigger? A lot depends on what you want a trigger to do. If you are only wanting to go down to 3.5 lbs then I would stick to the old style Remington trigger with an after market trigger spring. Most of the factory springs are so stiff that by the time you back it...

    Thick vs. Hunting

Has anyone tried using the same exact Berger bullet with the two different jackets? I have been shooting the hunting VLD's but right now all I can find is the target version. Has anyone experienced any difference in accuracy between the two (driven below 3000 fps)? David
