    Bartlein contour in a Manners SL?

    GAP builds their Xtreme Hunter rifle in the Manners SL and a fluted #3 Bartlein barrel so it should be fine. I've started collecting parts for sort of a "faux" Xtreme Hunter in 7MM-08 build using a Bartlein "2B" contour in the Manners SL. Should be a good hunting weight rig when completed.

    Funny thing is they all weigh within a couple ozs. The front one is a Remington SPS stainless 7MM-08 I sent to Karl Feldkamp to fix up a bit, all up it weighs 7 lbs 2 ozs and is a nice carry rifle.     One other you might consider is a Remington Classic Edge from McMillan, about perfect for any hunting rig with a #3 contour barrel & a short action.

    I've only ever had Karl @ Kampfeld Customs do any bolt knobs for me, and these are all on hunting rifles. This is his Campfire knob which is really nice, again this is for more of a hunting rig.

    Really a fantastic build - congrats and good luck on your elk hunt. I'll be in Wyoming about that time chasing antelopes. I hope to be able to have Robert build me the ultimate hunting rifle in 7MM-08 one of these days, I'm in the parts collecting mode now but he sure does build a nice rifle!!

    Another fine maker is David Winston, maybe not as well known as Dozier or Ingram but he sure can put together a fine knife. Here is one of his in S30V. Great guy to deal with as well.
