Couple of data points.
Worked up to 45 grains of RL26 today with 140 vld. Hit 2715 fps in a 19" barrel. Best accuracy was around 44 grains and need to get speed on that one. Using once fired Lapua brass and filled to base of neck. 2.81 oal.
41.2 grains of IMR4451 with 140 vld was extremely...
I'm so old school. I got a Lite for my birthday and after unpacking it and reading the directions, I boxed it back up and returned it. For some reason I just like working with my old 5-0-5. Hope it works out for you and speeds things up.
22" hawk hill barrel, 147 ELD kiss at 2.81 oal
45.5 gr RL26, 147 ELD, lapua brass, CCI450, 2700 fps, average for 3 shot groups is in the .3-.4 range. No more case capacity seating at 2.81 and really feel no more need for speed.
Data point for 147 eld. Two 6.5x47 lapuas, .170 throats. 39.8 grains of H4350(about max I can get to), CCI 450. Getting 2588 fps. Seems slow till you plug in 8000 ft elevation and they still are doing over 2000 fps at 600 yards. Lost a bit more speed than I thought I would going that short...
My daughter's rifle was throated for the 147 ELD to hit lands at 2.805. Seated just off the lands, she is using 40.5 grains of H4350 to get 2580 fps out of 22" barrel. 5 shot groups well under .5". It also shoots 140 vld with 42 of H4350 sub .5", 2710 FPS. Adjusting for her shorter barrel...
If the Retumbo doesn't work good, I've had great luck with that bullet and RL26. Actually shot very well at just over 3000 fps. It was pretty hard on game as well. Another powder that should work well is H1000. With some internet searching, you can find many who are loading those two powders...
I bought my 6.5x47 reamer and go/no go gauges. Have 3 rigs done with it by good smiths and all seem remarkably close as you would expect but not assume. Actually have tested ammo from one to another and same loads shoot same in 2 of the rigs. Didn't try the third. If there was another round I...
Personally I am not a fan of cutting the Rem 700 bolt faces to install sako extractors. So the PTG piece would not be of interest to me. Keep an eye on Gunbroker, last Rem 700 LH ss I bought was $333. Its a pretty good starting point really.
Shot a cow moose with a 30-06 and a 180 accubond. It ran around about 40 yards and fell over dead. Bullet exited on about a 200 yard shot. The 7mm-08 would do great with any of the bullets listed. The shots need not be long range and any kind of 140 or 150 would do fine.

59 grains H4350 sub half inch groups today
3.395 oal
60 grains H4350 sub half inch today as well
No pressure at all, but this is as high as I'll go based on how well it is shooting.
Haven't chrono'd...
Been watching the Chernobyl series on TV. If a guy could just find the right politburo member to slip a Franklin to, this may speed up the process. Otherwise, I'm just letting it roll I reckon. Goal is by year end, that would be 480 days.
As a curiousity, what do they do on these tax stamps...
Keep in mind your net length gain is about 6" on a UL7. I like my UL7 a lot and have cut a few rifles down to make total length around 24". The lost barrel length is very close to the UL7 weight so balance and handling remain very close. It works for me anyway.
Could buy this one, chop barrel to 22", skim bed the lug and cross your fingers. If no luck, maybe rebarrel with an 8 twist and shoot 75 eld out of it. But if goal is to go low cost on a lefty 223 bolt gun, this is a good bet...
I bought one of the lefty 223 Rem 700s used with the intention of putting a 8 twist pacnor on it in 223ai, which I did. It shoots 75 amax amazinly well and is a mtn contour now. Before then, it shot 55 grain ballistic tips with the factory barrel very nicely. I'd not hesitate to buy another to...
