    6.5x47 Lapua

That 19" rig is doing 2700 fps with that load. Have a bunch of 130 vld but waiting till I run out of 135 classics at this point to try them. Varget seems to be very nice with this load. At my 5200 feet elevation, it is still doing 1877 fps at 700. And I tend to hunt bears at 9000 ft elevation...

Help me breathe some new life into my old Model 7!

I have several threaded #2 contour from Hawk Hill, Benchmark and 2B from Bartlein. Almost all either 6.5 creedmoor or 6.5x47. I'd go creedmoor and stock up on Berger 135 Classic ammunition. They've killed bears, big mule deer and elk for us with no issues.

Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

Since lefties come last, going to sit back and let this rush run its course. That and the fact a lighter hunter version may be offered in future. Great looking action and hope to see some completed rifles this summer or fall.

    Hunting and understanding bullets reading?

I have seen the 7mm Remington loaded with 180 grain scenars perform well on elk and bears to 800. That was with my son and a friend shooting. Those with a muzzle velocity starting at 2950 fps. I used the 7 using 180 ELD to take whitetails to 650. Very effective. I have started liking a lot...

    Hunting and understanding bullets reading?

Actually closer to 400 yards in both instances. Both have a little gas left in the tank at that distance for sure. Or if you meant would I shoot elk or bears out to 550 yards, I would.

    Hunting and understanding bullets reading?

The 30-06 shoots that 155 at around 2800 or scunch under. Impact around 2200 fps. The short lapua starts around 2650 and impact per JBM should have been around 2150 or so. I'd go down to 1800 fps or so on either before I'd tap out.

    Hunting and understanding bullets reading?

30-06 elk at 400 yards with 155 scenar. 18" barrel. 6.5x47 elk at 400 yards with 140 vld. 18" barrel. Just a couple examples. This stuff is way over thought.

Ted, is the preorder going to be open for lefthand actions also? Thank you

    Seekins Element or custom?

I'd buy the Element. Its well thought out and a great company backs it.

    Defiance bought out

Thankfully primers, powder and brass hasn't gone up any in the last few years. And inflation is only 8%. Hopefully Defiance streamlines out the slower moving actions and configurations, gets some efficiencies going, and can reduce costs as a result. It would seem a failure to do that would cost...

    Hunting rifle

I've been blessed to live and hunt in CO for 25 some odd years. As a family we have killed a lot of critters here. As has been mentioned, bullets matter more than headstamps. If I didn't reload, I'd buy only a 7mm Rem, a 30-06, a 270, 6.5 PRC or 6.5 Creedmoor. Then buy a Tikka, a Nightforce NXS...

    6.5 x 47 vs 6 GT

Hard to beat a good 6.5x47. Using 8 twist. We shoot 140 vld mostly but the 147 eld also shot great.

    Hunting rifle

Guessing OP doesn't reload. Some pretty famous Brown Bear guides recommend 30-06 with heavy partitions. I'd buy an off the shelf 30-06 and a Nightforce 2.5-10, seekins rail and rings and get shooting. We've seen a number of elk killed very well with 6.5x47. Same goes for black bears, mule deer...

Suspended production of Lapua cases for popular calibers.

Got plenty of 6.5x47 and 6.5-284 on the shelf. Bummer though. Guess I'll check out more of the Alpha stuff. They're gonna get busier.
