    Lwrc repr or larue obr

Re: Lwrc repr or larue obr My 20 inch REPR (mid 2011 manufacture) likes FGMM168's and if I do my part is right at 1 moa. With Black Hills 168 Match it gets close to 1/2 moa. Love the gun but it is heavy. Never played with the OBR but Larue makes all my mounts and they are sweet.

Hunting & Fishing Moving to Alaska caliber/rifle selection

Re: Moving to Alaska caliber/rifle selection I've hunted Alaska a bunch. It is a big state and there are many different opportunities. If I was hunting / living in SE AK, I'd get the lightest weight 308 I could afford. You can stomp the Blacktails and Black Bears and not have to pack a heavy...

Hunting & Fishing frogg toggs, what do you think?

Re: frogg toggs, what do you think? Pros - Cheap, Work pretty well. Cons - Noisy, tear easily. Any of the mountaineering companies put out a superior product albeit with a higher price tag. Grundens would be 100% waterproof and cost about the same as the Toggs. Any of the Gore products are...

Hunting & Fishing all my children life sportsman

Re: all my children life sportsman Good for you and your kids! One of my buddies bought a lifetime license for Texas many years ago (he is a Texas resident). Has easily payed for itself. I wish Alaska would offer such licenses for non residents. I've spent a small fortune up there over the...

Re: Hunting with a heavy ass rifle I have some nice heavy rifles that make it into the field every now and then but I picked up a Kimber Montana in 308 that makes tiny little groups with just about anything in 165 grain. Whole thing weighs 6.5lbs with scope and 10 rounds of ammo. My other...

Hunting & Fishing Hunting Rifle Caliber/Model Question

Re: Hunting Rifle Caliber/Model Question I've killed moose, black bear, and elk with a 308 shooting 165 Accubonds. Shot the moose twice but not because it needed it. If I were to get a new rifle it would be a Kimber Montana in 325 wsm. Two of my buddies have them and they are pretty potent...

Hunting & Fishing Bino Magnification for Big Game?

Re: Bino Magnification for Big Game? If you are hiking or glassing a lot, I'd recommend one of the european manufactured 10 x 25's. I have a pair of Leicas in 10 x 25 that are now my go to binos for everything. They are light and fit in my pocket instead of around my neck where the binos have...

Hunting & Fishing Which Texas Exotic

Re: Which Texas Exotic Gotta vote for the Axis. Cubed and grilled it is one of the best things you will ever put in your mouth. If they are not available, I've eaten both fallow (does) and Blackbuk (antlered). The fallow was pretty darn good. The problem with Blackbuk is you want to shoot the...

Hunting & Fishing Alaska Costal Brown bear hunt,

Re: Alaska Costal Brown bear hunt, Have been on several of these hunts out of Port Alexander on Barranof Island and one time out of Kodiak. Took a Bansner 375 RUM. Thought it was overkill until we had a close encounter with an 8 footer. While the bear was too small to shoot, I vividly...
