Gunsmithing DIY badger bolt knob install

Re: DIY badger bolt knob install Looks great! The stepup stud is the winner. Do they sell badger knobs with smaller stud requirements that would allow one to use a straight 1/4" stud?

HK 91 vs LMT 308 which to buy

Re: HK 91 vs LMT 308 which to buy I actually had the opportunity to have a back to back shootout with these two rifles last weekend. The LMT did much better than I expected. Both rifles shot in the 3/4" moa range. I have to admit that the hk91 that I was comparing the LMT to was a tricked out...

Help me analyze this target! (178gr HPBT w/Varget)

Re: Help me analyze this target! (178gr HPBT w/Varget) Deadbrkn84, I spent yesterday shooting 178 gr amax bullets over 44 gr varget with br2 primers using lapua brass. I am loading at 2.81oal and shooting a Remington 700 with 26" Douglas 1-10" barrel. I chronographed my load at 2690 fps. I...

Any information on Dogtown Special rifles

I have been looking at a custom 308 rifle locally that has a 26" fluted barrel that has the name "Dogtown Special" printed on it. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about this gunsmith?

how often do you clean your weapon?

Re: how often do you clean your weapon? You should clean as often as you feel comfortable with. Every rifle will show a degradation in accuracy at some round count or another. I like to clean my gas guns after every trip to the range simply because they have a lot of moving parts. I can not...

Rifle Scopes Help on picking glass

Re: Help on picking glass I use the Larue and just mark the location On the rail so that I put it back in the same spot on the rail. I pay attention to camming the levers evenly. I tighten both levers half way then 3/4 and then full lock. It might not be a perfect solution but it works for me

Rifle Scopes Help on picking glass

Re: Help on picking glass The one thing I like about not having a zero stop is being able to use a quick detach mount and move the scope from rifle to rifle. I just zero the rifle and write down the elevation and windage on the scope base. My zero on one rifle might be 33.5 and it might be...

Rifle Scopes Help on picking glass

Re: Help on picking glass I have 2 of the 5.5-22x50's with NP-r1 reticles and love them. The 2 moa windage hashmarks are fine enough to use to hold for wind. I have used the NP-r2 and did not find the 5 moa windage marks usable for consistent hold over. There is just too much space there. I...

Re: New paint job, finally ready to shoot, Another 5R Great job! I like how you have the shooter and spotter in the same photo. What kind of paint did you use?

    F T/R Competition Never tried F T/R

Re: Never tried F T/R Be careful. Once you get into it, you will be hooked. I have been using a mod gear light weight roll up mat. I checked and it appears that cheaper than dirt no longer carries this particular one. The best thing to do is attend a match and see what the other guys are...

Rifle Scopes Optics comparison Schmidt & Bender vs. U.S. Optics

Re: Optics comparison Schmidt & Bender vs. U.S. Optics I have had the pleasure of shooting the 5-25 p4 fine against the 3.2-17x30mm USO. My scope is the us optics and my buddies is the s&b. I compared the 2 scopes while viewing a dark treeline 300 yards away around dusk. I hate to say that...

    which AK to buy

Re: which AK to buy I own the MAK90 and love it. Compared to some other ak's that I have fired, the norinco feels solid. I agree with Dang472 on the function of this rifle. It's beauty is that you can throw any junk ammo at it and it will fire nag function as intended.

Rifle Scopes Quality? Old vs new nightforce optics

I was wondering if anyone has noticed a difference in quality between the older and newer nightforce scopes. I have 2-nightforce 5.5-22x50 NP-r1 scopes. One was manufactured on 2007 and the other in 2010. All of the markings on the older one are deeply etched resulting in a crisp shine on the...
