    New bolt...extractor question

Re: New bolt...extractor question In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the standard Rem 700 extractor and I don't like the idea that the bolt face is cut into for either the M16 or Sako type extractor installations. If it were me I would go with the Rem style extractor - they have made...

Short stroking issues with my new build

Re: Short stroking issues with my new build One can jump to a lot of conclusions on the scenario you put forward, but the first thing I would say is normally whoever took responsibility of putting together the upper as a complete unit may not have done what was necessary in terms of the...

    AR-15 Forend bag rider

Re: AR-15 Forend bag rider The only suggestion I would have is to try to get it a little lower profile. AR's want to twist and roll when you touch off a round and the higher you have your bag rider, the easier it is for the rifle to roll in the rest. From that perspective the lower the better.

    AR15 accuracy issues

Re: AR15 accuracy issues There are way too many variables and there is not enough specific technical information to make a well reasoned assessment on the question of the accuracy issues. Any answer would just be a guess. I would start by taking the flash suppressor off, and making sure...

Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy

Re: Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy On the .936" vs .937" gas block issue, the true real dimension of the interior of the .936" gas block is typically .9375" (i.e. 15/16") minus a little bit for anodizing, so they call the gas block a .936" so people will turn the gas block section on...

Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy

Re: Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy Phil We get pre contoured blanks and make things up from there and from that perspective Krieger and others will make up whatever we send over as the contour drawing. I assume you are speaking of a canned AR-10 barrel contour Krieger offers.

Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy

Re: Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy Phil On barrel weight, with an AR-10, for accuracy, a "meaty" barrel is definitely a plus. If you are using an EGW clamp-on gas block, the biggest they make is .936" so that would be your gas block diameter. Forward of the gas block to the muzzle...

Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy

Re: Short Range AR10 Caliber for Accuracy You can run a 6.5 x 47 Lapua out of an AR-10 without problem. I would stick with the 120-123 gr bullets out of that cartridge as it's a little short on capacity for the 139-142 gr. bullets. The only thing I am not crazy about with the 6.5 Creedmoor...

Cleaning the bore with a wire brush

Cleaning the bore with a wire brush
