    Dramatic POI shift?

Thanks guys for the input, as always. Much appreciated :) I didn't intend on sounding like a complete noob (maybe I picked the wrong handle...) I expected a lower point of impact, as I said in original post. I wasn't expecting, nor am I working towards, two different loads producing identical...

    Dramatic POI shift?

In a 308 Winchester-chambered Savage, I shoot primarily 168s for practice at 200 yards. Once my skills are at a higher level, I intend on (eventually) shooting out to 1000 yards. So I've started playing around with 190 grain bullets a bit. I expected a lower point of impact, but my groups...

    Suggest a saddle/cheekpiece for an A5?

As the title says, can anyone recommend a saddle/cheekpiece for a McMillan A5? I can install threaded bosses for attachments, I'm not worried about that. I've contacted McM and they want $130 to install one, and I'm not opposed for paying for quality; I'd just assume save some $ (and spend it...

    Ruger 10/22 accuracy

    Ruger 10/22 accuracy

Not to beat a dead horse, but as others have said... don't expect much from the factory Ruger barrel... the chambers are horrible. That's definitely the rifle's weak link... that, and the 9-10# trigger pull. I accurized mine, with the goal of making it as accurate as possible on as little coin...

    FC headstamped 308 brass

Like I said, thanks fellas. Thanks for sharing your knowledge:cool: I should've mentioned the LC stuff I have is 7.62x51 NATO... its all been through semi-autos and is beat up some; some dents, quite a bit of case growth/expansion having been run through fat chambers. Those take some elbow...

    FC headstamped 308 brass

Thanks for the offer on the brass, but I'm good. I work at a range, and have access to brass;) How about LC cases? They're actually a bit lighter overall than the Fed cases are, maybe a hair more capacity but I haven't measured those. Keeping headstamp lots together (not mixing of course)...

    New guy from Washington/Arizona

UTI is a good tech school, good choice :) Here in the desert, drink LOTS of water. ALL the time... get into the habit, carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go. Sunscreen, hand lotion, chap-stick... also necessary provisions for outdoor activities when the weather is 110*+ with...

    FC headstamped 308 brass

Good morning y'all I'm fine-tuning a load with Winchester headstamped brass; it's not unusual to get 10-12 firings out of those and the consistency is pretty good. The Win brass very tough to find right now, and I'd rather not spend the money for Lapua even though it's superior (would rather...

Question about harmonics and OCW tests

McCrazy is 100% spot on. With bullets jammed, I find & fine tune my node, and then I leave that alone (assuming case capacity remains constant). Only then will start in with deeper seating depths in .010 increments.

Savage 10 FCP HS Line no longer shipped with pictured HS Precision stock

I'm a new Savage owner, and have been extremely impressed. I've read through this entire thread, and was getting nervous... but I'm really glad to see Savage having stepped up and taken care of you. It makes me feel better about my gear now than I did before :D

    Cleaning question

Thanks for the replies fellas. 1braveman, the tight-tolerance customs loading up makes perfect sense. Although my gear is factory stock, it is still fairly fresh (under 200 rounds) and I believe still 'tight' as I continue to get blue/green patches with relatively low round count in between...

    Cleaning question

Assuming a settled-in rifle, with at least several hundred rounds down the bore, how frequently do y'all clean your precision bolt guns? LOTS of variables, I get that... However, do you scrub based solely on groups getting bigger, or after each time out? I'm a bit OCD when it comes to care...
