Annoyance from the past, surprised my old login still worked! Any old friends still here?

@Rafael Same boltripper. Some have new names similar to their old name (lost password maybe), some other people post with a "style and knowledge base" similar to some old hands, but if it is them ,they are choosing anonymity, for good reasons I guess... Didn't you make your own plastic...

Annoyance from the past, surprised my old login still worked! Any old friends still here?

@Rafael I vaguely remember that you liked to work on some of your own stuff and posted some of the projects....like you and many others, I lost posts in the various transitions and updates. Some of the "Old Hands" like Two Shoes and Graham are gone as far as I know, some others like boltripper...

Gunsmithing recommended barrel torque and thread antiseize?

Surgeon action wrenches work great and I like them, I misplaced mine so I whipped up this one, not really cheaper if you pay yourself for your time but if you have the time and tools...ps found it the next day after I made it... have since made other wrenches for other actions the surgeon does...

What rifle for Kiddo shooting NRL22 matches?

My son has had a little bit of a hard time cycling a bolt on a RPR / and it had ejection problems (using a friends RPR) so I ruled that out even though it seemed an "easy button" I went another route for him https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/sons-nrl-22-build.6918274/ Which ever way...

    80% lower 7.62 knights sr-25 upper?

@JSchell1309 Yes I made it- I believe that it was posted in a thread that got "lost" over the years. The picture was posted in this thread to emphasize the options open to someone with tools in support of my position that it is better to buy tools than jigs where possible and what could be...

    Tikka T1X

No photo's but a pretty decent description of what I had to do to the krg is somewhere around page 10 or so and the mpa and tikka tac t3x chassis modifications are a little later in the thread. How you reengineer the triggergaurd is probably limited to the tools on hand / your skills but you...

    Tikka T1X

I've had one in a krg bravo since late November-ish. Over a couple of thousand through it now, no issues on dropping the mag but havent really done a lot of reloading drills on the clock as I have only had 1 per rifle- until I get my europtic package...

    Tikka T1X

If you don't find a bargain priced Timney 2 stage, Barnard also makes Tikka Triggers, I have found Barnard to be right up there with Anschutz 5018's as far as low weights, adjust-ability, and feel unfortunately like anschutz's the drawback is price............

PX Bullshit, Everyone is selling for themselves

Post #1 of thread @Lowlight says there is a problem with certain sellers and things may change. Prior to post #1 of thread @Lowlight has said Px could go away IRC. Now we have pages and pages of people pontificating solutions. It is his house, his rules. I did not see him creating a poll...

    .22 PRS scope choice help

Like some others posting above, my home range and the range I shoot NRL22 matches on is more "crowded" than the places I shoot prs style field matches. I find myself happy in a field match leaving the power alone anywhere between 10 and 16x, 22's on a narrow range with small targets I find...

Gunsmithing Best end mill for cutting epoxy wood etc

@Easy_E Couple "pro tips" 1. Get the collet nut that matches your nut style, there are various nuts /spanner styles 2. Watch a video on how to "load" the collet into the nut, to do it correctly you need to start it at an angle to snap it in the nut doesn't just tighten down, it's eccentric. If...

Gunsmithing Best end mill for cutting epoxy wood etc

@ Easy_E. Collets are only designed to collapse so much then you ruin them, er collets will collapse .040ish because their designed too- 5, R8 and DA collets not so much, I doubt you could clamp a .250 R8 and be happy when you were done, a 6mm R8 might get it done but it is 1 thou undersize... I...

    80% lower 7.62 knights sr-25 upper?

Yes, mini-mills lack rigidity and z-axis (up/down) travel but plenty of people have taken a "0" percent forging to 100% on a mini mill. It takes a whole lot less to mill an 80%'s trigger pocket than taking a 0 %forging to 80%. I would take a mini over a drillpress/crossslide vise/jig or a...

    NRL22 barrel length?

@bmicek re read my post #9 it touches on balance as being important, that being said, I have years of shooting anschutz match rifles in 3p competition and know what works for me,although I prefer that everyone I everyone else shooting the same 22 precision match shoot a lightweight gun...

    NRL22 barrel length?

@bmicek - why do you worry about added weight on your build? The trend in PRS style positional shooting is to add weight (ie over 20 lbs in a gun to spot impacts / no recoil). While a 22 doesn't have the "fierce recoil"(sarcasm alert) of a 6mm dasher, a 14-16 lbs 22 is way steadier on a...

Gunsmithing Best end mill for cutting epoxy wood etc

2 flute, 4 flute, hss or carbide cutting epoxy isnt much of a strain on endmills. Frank Mari (Mari tool)makes some reduced shank carbide 3 flutes with relatively short L.O.C but long shanks that are handy for making a cut in a pocket without "rubbing" above your cut. If I remember right his .250...
