Looks like a problem with the dog, maybe health wise. If he's eating the bark, then his diet that your neighbor is giving him is flawed. If he's just tearing it off, then there's some kind of psychological issue that your neighbor is causing(Not playing with him, not enough attention, etc.)...- ArmaHeavy

I used American Eagle 55gr out of a Stag Arms M4ish rifle for most of mine, and I didn't have any problems. I know you did say not to get into that, but it is true. With some of the extra shit in cranberry juice(High Fructose Corn Syrup, and 5% real fruit juice in some cases), versus an all natural German beer via the Reinheitsgebot(The German Purity Law stating that only water, barley, and hops could be used), the German beer would be better for you. To give you more options consider, getting a non pack gun carrier that you can get from eberlestock, and securely mating it(attaching it) to a different ruck.
