    Which base style is better?

Never had problems with the Burris xtr rings and it's very affordable. I also have a set of SWFA rings (identical to the xtr) and it has also served me well. If you don't mind spending a little more, look into getting seekings rings. There are several in the FS section in various heights...

    Recommendations for a cheek pad?

I had no idea they have height adjusting straps, genius. Just now looking at their variety of cheek pads and designs makes me want one. Does the cheek cushion have a rubberized or velvety feel to it? I can't tell from the pictures.

Get them while you can boys

I got excited, then realized its probably too good to be true. Also, there are no Nightforce retailers I know of who are allowed to give discounts on brand new scopes...most especially at that price.

Rifle Scopes I need some direction on MILRAD vs MOA.

^ agreed, there is a limited number moa/moa scopes. I guess its difficult to manufacture an MOA reticle??

Rifle Scopes I need some direction on MILRAD vs MOA.

Agree with all the above. I prefer MOA/MOA with 1/4 moa clicks as it is a finer adjustment than 0.1mil clicks (1/4moa=0.25inch(approx) vs 0.1mil=0.36inch both at 100 yards). It is not difficult to switch from one to the other if you decide later. On youtube, search "moa" then "milliradian"...

    Rifle Scopes swfa ss 3-15x42?

Swfa SS is probably one of the best high value scope for a budget build. Only thing that lacks is the glass, however its like getting a vizio vs samsung led tv. It serves its fuction you pay significantly less than the "better scopes" and you will be happy either way. Ive just upgraded my...

    Recommendations for a cheek pad?

Get which ever stock pack feels confortable to your cheeks, then you can insert mousepads underneath till you get your desired height. Works well for me and is comfortable and cost effective.

    Catastrophic Failure

I'll definitely request test shots/targets from a builder when I get into custom builds. This rifle isnt built by Tacticalrifles is it? I hear they have issues building rifles, but thats just hear say.

Rifle Scopes 30mm scope rings on Savage FCP-SR

Vortex rings are manufactured by seekins, and seekins rings are excellent aluminum rings. They are the exact same except branded differently. Dont need to spend anymore money on "higher end" rings for a moderate 308 setup. Good luck!

Rifle Scopes Budget scope that satisfy!

I enjoy my SWFA for a "high value" scope, however you get what you pay for. The build and features are excellent, however the glass is not that clear and bright. My Nikon Prostaff cost me under $100 and the glass is clearly better (pun intended), however the features and assembly are not the...

Rifle Scopes New Vortex Razor Gen II Rifle Scopes (Images, Spec, Etc)

Wow. I had no idea details were released. Looks amazing! Do all of them have illuminated reticle or just the 1-6x24? I see an extra knob next to the parallax adjuster.

Rifle Scopes New glass for each rifle.

new glass for each, however the better the rifle, the better the glass.

    Hearing protection?

I have experience with the Caldwell electronic ear muffs and it is what you can expect for the price. Works effectively but after about a year of use, my first pair started to become staticky and block out mouse farts even at the least sensitive settings. Im currently using surefire ep4 and...

Need a new muzzle brake for my AR-15

Had effective reduction in flip with a Battlecomp. I've also heard great things about Surefire and probably what I'd try on the next build.

Rifle Scopes noob question about rings and mounts

Pro staff should be 1 inch diameter tube with 40mm objective. You'll be fine getting low rings, otherwise go to a shop and test different heights. The lower to the barrel the better. If you are looking for a decent setup that wont break the bank, try going with weaver base and burris xtr...

    TacticalRifles.net

Agreed. I admire the OP's approach as it only illuminates what to expect out of a $8,000+ custom ordered rifle from Tactical Rifle. Simply observed facts and in no way "defaming" a crook.... Uhh business owner. Thanks for the facts OP.

    TacticalRifles.net

Shameful... I cant even fathom how someone can screw up not only ordering the correct parts or not forgetting parts, but simply dusting particles off a rifle before sending it out. How can someone install a scope and damage it that badly? It just doesnt make any sense to me.

Rifle Scopes new Vortex to be released... looks like a new Razor line

Nice to see a more proportionally heightened elevation knob. Based on that pic, I'm liking the more compact scope length(reminds me to the Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50).

Finally joined, from Los Angeles (626)

Been creeping around this forum since 2007, but never thought to join?? I've always enjoyed the concept of precision shooting/sniping but i've never built a precision rifle until 7 years after my craze of shooting and guns. Since then I've learned to build AR's purchase several firearms...
