Question about ladder test and charge weight for .308

I knew that higher velocity normally degrades accuracy so that's why I wasn't sure if I should go any higher with the test. I just wanted to make sure I would have enough ummph to get out to a mile or so when I go to the desert. Any other thoughts, suggestions?

    XLR optic question

Yes, if you are looking to go long range a 20 degree base will help. Check out Ken Farell about the bases they make them for almost every model and they make them to just fit the action and will not go over and interfere with the XLR chassis. I had them to one for my Savage and it was great...

    Rifle Scopes Which mount???

So I finally got shipment of my SS 1-6 and I need to know from those of you who have one, what length brobo mount are you using? Regular, slightly forward, or extended? I have no BUIS but might add them later on, and I use the stock fully extended for my LOP if that makes and difference.

    The Forster Reloading Press.

Re: The Forster Reloading Press. Call a Cabela's store. Their online inventory says that they are not in stock, but they do have a couple at some of their stores. Just pick a store and call them, and if they don't have one they can check in their database, and tell you which store does...

Which Savage for long range shooting?

Re: Which Savage for long range shooting? I have a 10 FCP-K in .308 and have won every match at our range I have entered with it. We shoot from 200-800yrds. I have taken it out to 1,000 just as easily. My buddy was so impressed with it that he ditched his 700 and bought a Savage in .260...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50

Re: Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 MOA or MRAD does not really make a difference it is just what you are more comfortable with. I find that I like MRAD better. I got the EBR-2 reticle because I liked the drop and holdover dots. I thought that they might be a little much but I actually like how...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Long Shot

I know this is a long shot, but gonna give it a try. I am looking to buy a les baer custom carry Comanche in .38 super. I would really like to get my hands on one and see how well it fits and how comfortable it will be to shoot before I drop that kind of coin on one. If anyone has one near me...

    Range Report Southwest Ammo reloads

Re: Southwest Ammo reloads For example I had two that were at 2707, and 2704, and two that were 2645, and 2651. To me that's more fps variance than I would want. Of course I only paid 60cents a round instead of a dollar like normal match ammo would be. However, if the ammo continues to...

    Range Report Southwest Ammo reloads

Re: Southwest Ammo reloads All of the brass was the same it was once fired FC brass that I originally bought new loaded from SW ammunition. I used a chrono on every shot, it's my buddies chrono so I don't remember the manufacturer, but its the chrono we have been using for a long time...

    Range Report Southwest Ammo reloads

Re: Southwest Ammo reloads My fps has varied greater than their non-reloads. The original ammo I bought from them was 175 SMS and shot at 2700fps. Between rounds the fps never varied by more than 30 fps. I sent 300 rounds back to be reloaded and those rounds hav varied by as much as 60fps...

    308 ammo/rings/rail on Savage FCP-K

Re: 308 ammo/rings/rail on Savage FCP-K Ken Farrel makes a great rail for the fcpk I have one on mine. Rings depends on your budget. For that scope Burris extreme tac rings would work well and are not super expensive. For good cheap ammo I have always liked PMC. It's only 147 gr and the...

    JP or GAP 10

Re: JP or GAP 10 Glad to hear the JP trigger is a single stage. The Giselle I have is a single stage also and I really like it. Not a fan so much of the double stage triggers.

    JP or GAP 10

If this has been asked before I apologize. I am looking into getting a long range semi auto to go to 1000 or so yards. I am pretty much settled on .260 rem and also on spending the money to do it right. So what are the advantages/disadvantages of both the JP LRP07 and the GAP 10? Any...

Rifle Scopes Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under No. As you increase the zoom the reticle grows in proportion to the zoom and decreases as you lower the zoom. That way no matter what power you are on the reticle is accurate in its markings for ranging purposes and click adjustments. Whereas...
