Rifle Scopes Scope market inside scoop...

Machining Ti kicked my SS a few times back in the day. Of course that was on manual machines creating one-offs with the wrong tooling (carbide grades and geometries) and seat of the pants strategies, not leaving enough material for an effective finish pass, etc. It is definitely top tier...

Rifle Scopes Old eyes, want LASIK, Seeing through a scope

I've had more medical problems in the last 4 years than in my entire life before and I'm not even 50 yet. I have to keep reminding myself, getting old beats the alternative.

Rifle Scopes Scope alinement with rifle

You are assuming that the reticle is perfectly centered in the scope, which it may not be. Even if the optical axis of the scope is in perfect alignment (in a vertical plane) with the bore center/bullet path of your rifle, you could end up with the erector not centered in its travel inside the...

Rifle Scopes Best scope for $2K or less for my KAC LPR

The following is my opinion only (of course). First off, it should be light so as to not overwhelm the balance of the rifle. Leupold Mark 6 3-18 (On the KAC site, this is how the rifle in the picture is configured) fits the bill if you need the magnification. Light and compact, very good...

Rifle Scopes resetting turret knobs on an SWFA SS 1-6x24?

SWFA called me yesterday (surprised the hell out of me, I was expecting an email). Skylar was surprised that I was having this issue and of course offered to make it right if I sent it in. I gave it another try and finally pulled the elevation knob off. The fit between the turret shaft and knob...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell et6245 6-24. Anyone have one?

I had the FG (FFP G2 reticle) and it's a very nice scope. I sold it then I got a great deal on an F (FFP illuminated mildot) and although the reticle is less useful, it has the same mechanics and good glass. I like Bushnell ETs in general, solid scope for the money.

Rifle Scopes Scope market inside scoop...

I remember reading that some manufacturer (Zeiss?) markets their 1-x power scopes as 1.2-x because mathematically the low magnification is more than 1x in order for it to function like a true 1x.

This. Hide members are treated well by Hide vendors. Shop around and don't rely on web pricing (PM or call vendors for their best SH price).

Rifle Scopes resetting turret knobs on an SWFA SS 1-6x24?

Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt that I removed the turret covers before I tried to remove the knobs. I just tried again, removed the screw then pulled as hard as I could on the knob, and the windage knob didn't budge. Being as I'll run it with the turrets capped it's not a huge...

Rifle Scopes resetting turret knobs on an SWFA SS 1-6x24?

I bought one of these during the tax day sale and am so far very impressed with it overall. I tried to reset the knobs to my 100 yard zero the other day. After removing the knob retention screw and trying to pull the knob off the shaft with as much force as I was comfortable applying, neither...

Thought this interesting... How shortages came about...

Although it is possible that the Feds bought all that ammo to keep it out of civilian hands, I think it's far more likely they bought it for practice ammo.

Optolyth S80 HD Compact Spotting Scope

I had the Razor (before I sold it) and the Zeiss 20-75x85 I replaced it with side by side in a number of different comparisons including low light and I stand by my results. Maybe I got a cherry Razor and a sub-par Diascope, but I SURELY got a Monday morning (after a drunken weekend) Optolyth...

Optolyth S80 HD Compact Spotting Scope

I had an angled S80 APO with both the 20-60 zoom and mil eyepieces for about 6 months. The rotating reticle is in fact useful but I suspect it rotates out of necessity because the eyepiece mount is threaded; unless Optolyth clocks in the threads on every body and eyepiece, the reticle would end...

Bushnell Excursion FLP 15-45x60 FFP mildot spotter

It's impossible to convert mils to inches as mils are angular and inches are linear. If you mean mils to MOA (which do not subtend exactly to inches at 100 yards but it's close) go with 1 mil to 3.4 MOA

Rifle Scopes MRAD vs MOA scopes

1 MOA is not 4" @ 100 yards, it's 4.188". There are a few scopes graduated in IPHY (inch per hundred yards) but these lose their benefit if you're shooting at 100 meter increments or random distances. Matching turrets/reticles are far more important then which system you use IMHO. Pick a...
