    From what I understand, the Mk13 Mod 6's are essentially a left handed Mod 5 The Mod 7s utilize a Stiller Mk13 action and the AI AX MK13 chassis. There are some Mk13 Mod 5s that have Stiller actions.

    Ive seen photos of Marines using the Horus Falcon scope awhile back when they started getting the Mk13 Mod 5s. I assume they were looking for a better reticle than those in the NightForce scopes. I saw those pics a few weeks ago. I thought to my self "that kinda looks like Texas" :p

    I think OP might be talking about the front end of the receiver threads where the barrel nut threads onto. There isn't any moving parts on that part of the upper.

    My understanding is that Nightforce might not have the best glass, but they are built like a tank. I've seen a lot of abused Nightforces', I haven't seen any abused Vortex scopes.

    The thing with monocular NVG mounted on a helmet such as the PVS-14, it is ideally used with an IR laser. The PVS-14 is best used on your non-shooting eye.     Some of the ACOGs have finger adjustment knobs under sealed caps. Some need a coin or something to turn. I think the older ones need a coin and the newer ones are user friendly.

    Just give it a few moderate whacks on the side to set the reticle. ACOGs have a floating reticle. If you make an adjustment and don't beat the optic, you will be chasing your zero. Shooting it after adjustment will settle the reticle after several rounds, but you would be wasting ammo. I used...

    Keep the glass clean is about it.. When you make an adjustment, be sure to hit the optic a few times with you hand to set the reticle.
