    16-18 inch shorty rifles

That is just a sweet and handy looking rig right there.

    Best Sub-$1000 custom action?

Not taking a serious look at the T3 action could be a mistake in my opinion. my experience has shown that they are very straight/true receivers and need little to no work done prior to barrel installation. That cannot be said at all for an R700. I am a Remington 700/M24 armorer and given the...

Best short action cartridge for long range precision shooting

A lot of folks will tell you to start off with a .308, and they are not incorrect (in my opinion). That being said, while I have (or have had) .260s, 6mm Rems, .243s etc., I still, after 35 years of playing the game, shoot a .308 more frequently than all other short action cartridges combines...

    Purdy 260

With that brake on there I bet that recoil like a .223! I've got a fat bastard on a .300 and am truly impressed by the lack of recoil. Beautiful rifle you have there.

300 Win Mag build - Input appreciated.

I run a 26" light Palma that's fluted, though it is also braked. Brakes do offer a recoil reduction that is not insignificant. W/o a brake, a medium Palma would be a good choice. Stock design also plays a big part in "shootability" of the belted magnums in my experience. If you have a chance...

Sako TRG 22, not all its cracked up to be?

Not all it is cracked up to be?? Personal experience from running my TRG indicates otherwise. Then again, rifles are mechanical devices, assembled by humans and though the odds are exceptionally low of getting a lemon of a TRG, I would never say never. That being said, you mentioned getting...

    Tikka T3 Picture Thread.

Tikka, Schmidt, carbon fiber XLR.. That is an awesome combo.

    CTR or LTR

Tikka is the only way to fly. From newer T3s, to 695s and an old 30-06 model 65 (late 1960s rifle with a Bofors barrel), every tikka I own shoots better than I should expect for factory barrels.

    .308 suggestions

The Tikka T3s have a well deserved reputation for being extremely accurate. I have two .308 chambered T3s, one is a heavy barrel, the other is a sporter. The heavy barrel Tikka rivals my .308 Sako TRG in accuracy.

Off the shelf .30-06 Precision Rifle? Where and Which one?

Another route would be to take a Tikka T3 and screw a heavy tube on it. I have multiple T3s,custom and factory and they are all great shooters. I have savages and Tikkas and will take the rifle from Finland every time.

Denver 7-11 Hostage (taker) Shot - why the torso?

Or the Leo shooting was taking an offhand shot and chose to make the safest shot possible. Since we don't know where the sniper(s) were set up, if they had them on scene at all, and are only seeing this from the news cameramans angle, we are not seeing the situation from the angles presented to...

Denver 7-11 Hostage (taker) Shot - why the torso?

The cops responded to the call. Negotiations failed. Hostage taker refused to cooperate. He tried to leave, continuing to put the woman's life in danger. He made a conscious decision to do what he was doing. The cops, after holding back for more than an hour, and now dealing with a dynamic and...

    New 30 cal rifle

Of your three choices, I prefer the 300 win. This is primarily due to years of experience with the cartridge. That being said, frankly for a hunting type rifle, I would opt for a 30-06. In lighter rifles most guys that I have seen afield cannot shoot the heavy recoiling rifles, such as .300...

    M24-Rebuild anyone recieve one ?

I realize that m24s are a classic and a part of history, but 5k is nuts! I have some odds and ends, such as torque wrenches, scope cams etc,etc from when I was issued M24s. If somebody needs something give me a shout. I know I do not have any iron sight paraphernalia. Cheers!

One more thing for me to lust after in 2014... :)

    Coyote Caliber

I use a .223 more than anything else, using 52 grain SMKs. About any accurate bullet will work, though I suggest that you don't use FMJs. 60 grain VMAX are excellent as well.

    Surgeon Rifles lets see em!

That pic screams "satisfaction". Nice shot.
