Range Report Hornady 147 ELDM blowing up
For short action mag feeding. I was limited to 2.95 OAL by the mag. For single feeding, I could have gone longer. For the SAAMI chamber, I could have gone to 3.035 (to jam) if I was single feeding. For single feeding or a long action, I would consider a longer free bore than the SAAMI...- acourvil

When I was shooting the 153gn ATips, the box said 1-7.5 twist minimum. They also published 6.5PRC load data showing velocities of 2950-3050. Rifle Scopes How difficult would it be for two noviceish long-range shooters to have an MOA and a MIL scope?
The calculations are the same, the numbers are different. If you find one set of numbers is easier for you to think about than another set, you should do what is easiest for you.- acourvil

It depends on how you think about it, and whether you will confuse yourself. I shoot MOA and most of the people I shoot with shoot MIL. It doesn't bother me at all, it's pretty easy to do a rough conversions in my head. But it is a little easier if you are shooting the same flavor as people...- acourvil

1:8 to 1:7 Gain Twist for 6.5 PRC?

I have shot the 153 Atips and 153.5 LRHT in my 6.5 PRC, 7 twist. I got slightly better accuracy with the Atips, and a bit more sped, but after my barrel was a little worn the Atips started blowing up; for example, I lost 5 shots in a 50 shot long range match where I was shooting great but 5...- acourvil

Help with POI drift on .22 PCP rifles. Temperature or something else?
I can't speak to the guns you guys are using, but I have seen the same thing to a lesser degree. Air guns in general just aren't built as solid/stiff as firearms. You can go through the usual exercise of checking to make sure the barrel is fully floated, that there is nothing making contact...- acourvil

Bartlein BB steel barrel, wearing one out...
With my last 2 (regular) barrels in 6 Creed, the barrels would speed up for the first ~200 rounds, like Punkur67, then slow down around 1000-1100 rounds. They would then continue to shoot well for another 500-600 rounds or so, and then either slow down more or start to throw fliers. So...- acourvil

O.k., that looks more like what I would have expected. Back to the OP‘s question, looks like 4831sc or H1000 might work (depending on brass capacity), and for the shorter barrel I would probably try the 4831sc first. Not sure about the VV powders, I don’t have much experience with them.- acourvil

Understood. It might have something to do with the brass; I’m using ADG brass with a H2O volume of 68.3, other brass might have less volume. But when I first started out with the 6.5 PRC, I tried Retumbo in some loads and got less velocity than with H1000, so that was part of why it seemed...- acourvil

Interesting. Seems odd to me, since Retumbo is slower. And I think there might be something wrong with the fill % number, I don’t think 54-55 grains is a compressed load. But I do see Holden has 55gn of H1000 listed as a max load for a 153gn ATip bullet, so I guess my load might be hotter...- acourvil

It seems doable to me. I shoot the 153.5s in a 28” barrel with a moderate load of H1000 at just about 3000fps. I think once you adjust for barrel length and maybe drop the load a grain or 2, you will be right in the ball park. I don’t see H1000 on the list above, but it should be in between...- acourvil

Please help with seating issues
You would have to check your lot of bullets to be sure, but most of the time the BTO variance is less than the OAL variance. So seating depth wioll be more consistent, even if OAL varies more. Unless the OAL variance is creating problems due to mag length, I would focus on BTO and not worry...- acourvil
