Here is another 5 shot group. These are normal or good groups for me, I am not the best AR shooter and will say so upfront.
The SMK is also a good round, although the node for them is almost 100 fps slower out of my barrel. 5200'da gets me 1300fps at 1100 yards. True transition at 1335...
Edge +P is the way to go. 300 smk at 3120 out of 30". That is roughly 200fps faster than lapua or rum. Easy to load for, have 2000 rounds through mine and still 1/2 minute. Most guys run 285 hornady out of lapua at 2750 to 2800. Very easy to load for and brass life is about 7 reloads on...
Here is the story. I wanted an AR that would be capable at 1000, played around with grendels, 6woa and 6x45 but none did it for me. So the grendel was the best I could find but it has lug issues when pushed hard. I looked at the 22mmar but it has the same problems as the grendel with lugs...
If it is leaving marks and in a Remington or clone, it is from the ejector letting it ride the chamber on the way back out. Take out the ejector and the problem will go away. No conern if that fixes it.
All, start time is 9am, bring 50 rounds, cash purse, $25 entry fee, distance from the muzzle to 1100 yards, dress warm and we will have a top 5 shoot off for the purse. Please email or call with any questions. 928 308 8093
I agree that it is very little. These numbers were amplified due to 40 degree angle and 1000 yards, but it was just to post an exaggerated example. Is a 1000 yard shot at 40 degrees possible, absolutely. Talk to goat hunters in Alaska. Is it ideal, probably not. Is 40 degrees at 600 within...
I agree with most of the above with the exception that uphill or downhill make no difference. Most programs do not account for them because the difference is very little. For instance, 40 degree uphill takes 200.2" at 1k and downhill takes 195.7" at the same 40 degrees. Now that is the exteme...
