    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Update on the Savage: I won’t argue, the Savage is a shooter for sure, but that heavy bolt lift just makes shooting it not fun and I refuse to completely remove my hand from the stock to cycle the bolt for follow up shots. I sold the rifle last night a complete package for what I had into it...

    Bergara B14 Wilderness Hunter build

Just pulled the trigger on a Bergara B14 Wilderness Hunter in 6.5 Creed. I also ordered a Carbon 6 20” barrel for it (6-8 month lead time). Planning to throw it in a Magpul Pro 700 folding chassis. Looking to make this a precision hunter/intro comp rig. Hoping this rifle will be reliable enough...

    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Thanks, I’m really happy with the rifle. Factory cerakote, tungsten grey is the color. I did just pull the trigger on a Bergara B14 Wilderness Hunter in 6.5 creed as well. Hoping it’ll be as accurate as the Savage, but with a better bolt throw. We’ll see, I truly couldn’t be happier with how...

    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Update on the Savage, this thing is an absolute hammer with Hornady Precision Hunter 178 ELD-X’s. 1/2 MOA groups and the bolt is getting smoother with every trip to the range.

The Kidd is a blast to shoot, it was going to be my trainer, but on the fly one day (hoping to get her excited about shooting), I told her it was hers, haha. Some of my best memories are shooting with my dad. He’s been gone a long time now, but I’m hoping to form new ones with my girl and maybe...

    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

One of the benefits of getting myself back into hunting/long shooting after many years is getting to teach my 9 year old daughter. I loved shooting and hunting with my dad and after he passed away I had a hard time continuing in the sport. Here’s some photos of her working on building good...

Stripped out action screw on a 10/22

Seems like the best move considering he invested in the Kidd barrel and KRG stock.

Stripped out action screw on a 10/22

If it was me, I’d just get a new receiver. I’d probably use it as an excuse to get a Kidd receiver for $240, but he could also get the Brownells receiver for $130.

    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Some updates to the budget hunting/precision rifle… Warne 1 piece Picatinny base SWFA rings SWFA level Sponge camo on the stock (though the poor lighting this morning doesn’t show that off well) All in with the scope, I’m at $980 for a sub MOA hunting rifle that I feel confident with out to...

    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

I know, I know it’s a Savage, but I’m actually digging this rifle, it’ll get me by while I wait for a Bighorn Origin action to show up and start building myself a good custom precision rifle. It shoots better out of the box than the 3 Remington 700’s I’ve had in the past. Top: Savage 110 308...

    Savage 110 Trail Hunter

Stock arrived, so I got that put on and it’s a HUGE improvement over the Hogue. The Hogue pillar bedded stocks are basically garbage. I also installed a Savage factory bolt handle from the “tactical” models. Sometime this week the extractor kit should be here. I’ll hit the range and give the...

    Savage 110 Trail Hunter

Have you tried an aftermarket extractor kit? I was planning to run it as is and see if issues arise with extraction, if so I’ve heard the extractor kits available will fix it. Considering they’re less than $30, that was my failsafe.

    Savage 110 Trail Hunter

I’m definitely going to give the AccuTrigger a chance, but I’ve had multiple Timney triggers in 700’s and am a big fan.

    Savage 110 Trail Hunter

This is why I went with the Savage, they have a reputation for being decent shooters out of the box. I went with 308 Win because of the affordability and availability of ammo. I’ve been shooting my Kidd barreled 10/22 a couple times a week hoping to develop my skills as a shooter. I used to...

    Savage 110 Trail Hunter

Honestly this stock sucks so hard, it makes me upset just holding it. I’ll have it swapped the minute the Magpul stock shows up. It’s so flexible the stock makes contact with the barrels just handling it. The tungsten Cerakote on the barrel and action is awesome and was one of the top reasons I...
