Update on the Savage: I won’t argue, the Savage is a shooter for sure, but that heavy bolt lift just makes shooting it not fun and I refuse to completely remove my hand from the stock to cycle the bolt for follow up shots. Bergara B14 Wilderness Hunter build
Just pulled the trigger on a Bergara B14 Wilderness Hunter in 6.5 Creed. I also ordered a Carbon 6 20” barrel for it (6-8 month lead time). Planning to throw it in a Magpul Pro 700 folding chassis. Looking to make this a precision hunter/intro comp rig. Hoping this rifle will be reliable enough...- rdramsey8

Thanks, I’m really happy with the rifle. Factory cerakote, tungsten grey is the color. I did just pull the trigger on a Bergara B14 Wilderness Hunter in 6.5 creed as well. Update on the Savage, this thing is an absolute hammer with Hornady Precision Hunter 178 ELD-X’s. 1/2 MOA groups and the bolt is getting smoother with every trip to the range.- rdramsey8

One of the benefits of getting myself back into hunting/long shooting after many years is getting to teach my 9 year old daughter. If it was me, I’d just get a new receiver. I’d probably use it as an excuse to get a Kidd receiver for $240, but he could also get the Brownells receiver for $130.- rdramsey8

Have you tried an aftermarket extractor kit? I was planning to run it as is and see if issues arise with extraction, if so I’ve heard the extractor kits available will fix it. Considering they’re less than $30, that was my failsafe.- rdramsey8
