Range Report Ladder test, just curious what others would pick

I like the .5 grain increment too the elevation climb is more visible and so is the "flat" spot accuracy node specially at 600 yards where I do my testing at. The velocity measuring simultaneously is very important too IMHO. Once in a while u can get that odd ball in a string 50-60 fps higher...

    McM A5 and flex..

My A5 is friggin Stout! It's not like its a hogue overmold off a SPS Remington. Imho if its flexing enough to cause impact shifts your one big dude, or maybe the barrel channel is wrong for your barrel profile. I don't see any of my McMillans flexing all.

Spotting scope 600 to 1000 yards

Believe it or not the best contrast is the fluorescent orange. When the paint chips away its greyish underneath. Its hard to distinguish the hits when you use the white paint grey being close to white. The biggest benefit for me using the steel has been reading the Mirage. Seeing it pick up...

Cheapest way out is to Spend some money on the Ar500 steel paint it orange you will easily see hits at 600 with a 10 power rifle scope. It will Probably cost ya under $200. My Kowa is nice but the only thing I've ever seen bullet holes with was my nightforce 12-42 BR scope at 600. Even then its...

    6.5 Creedmore real world dope

Re: 6.5 real world dope 142 smk 2850 fps 100 yard zero 600 yards exactly 12 moa. 139 scenars & 140 bergers are very close I can't recall exactly but they were a little less than 12 moa at 600. I bet 140 Amax are right there with the rest of them.

    Gunsmithing Rem 700 action question

Re: Rem 700 action question I'm no professional gunsmith but all of my Remington 700's have been capable of shooting bugholes. $450 I think would be a reasonable price for a used action with trigger. You can get a whole ADL rifle at Walmart for around $450.No bottom metal though.

    260Rem and IMR4064

Re: 260Rem and IMR4064 I have used IMR 4064 with 129 SST & 95 VMax hornady bullets. I've had excellent results. I've got half inch groups and less at 100 yards with my factory Remington 700 Mountain rifle with a 22 inch skinny Barrel and factory unbedded stock. However my GAP 260 26"...

    ladder test results, need opinions

Re: ladder test results, need opinions 100 yrds is a little short for a ladder test imho. At 600 the accuracy window becomes very clear and the windage is a not a contributing factor. Hope you can find a longer test range to benefit your efforts.

Just how much does temp affect RL15 and IMR4064?

Re: Just how much does temp affect RL15 and IMR4064? My experience with varget is the accuracy/powder charge range is hotter than I want to run in my M1A. Seems to me varget likes to be run on the hot side. Plus my velocity spread is lower with the other powders. There's more to accuracy than...

Just how much does temp affect RL15 and IMR4064?

Re: Just how much does temp affect RL15 and IMR4064? The OP was asking about imr4064 and Rl-15 for his m1a. And the temp sensitivity of these two powders. I think he's looking at two of the best four or 5 options. Considering the M1A's pressure limitations. I do have varget but don't use it...

From 85- 33 degrees accross my chrony absolutely no velocity difference. NONE!!!! 41.7 IMR4064 grains behind 175 SMK. Is my bolt gun load 41 for my M1A or until...

Fieldcraft Double check my SHTF gun logic advice -

Re: Double check my SHTF gun logic advice - I've shot more critters with my 870 slug/vent rib combo than you could shake a stick at. The rifled slug barrel with rifle sights is a force to reckoned with. IMHO all the SHTF folks are forgetting an overlooked gem in the .17 caliber air rifle...
