    Efficient load build-up?

Re: Efficient load build-up? Thanks for the feedback. Am reading the OCW method, and it sounds a lot like what I was doing anyway, so I think I'm on the right path. There's a lot of tips and tricks on that website I'll try out thought - great find! Hadn't heard about it until now, and was...

    Efficient load build-up?

I've been reloading and shooting long range precision for some time, and I'm working on building up the best round for a new rifle. In the past I used to build up a bunch of different loads w/ different bullet weights to account for as many different variables that affect accuracy as possible...

    Imperfections in bore

Re: Imperfections in bore Your true test will be once you put some rounds through it. I had a bit of a scare like that with my new rifle - I thought I had messed it up during break-in by rushing the cleaning I was doing at the range. I ended up running a few rounds of Tubbs TMS through it...

    Long range hunting calibers

Re: Long range hunting calibers You should be able to push a 210 to ~2700 fps out of a 30-06, so that'll give you plenty long range and energy. Should be good out to 1300-1500 yds.

    Long range caliber opinion

Re: Long range caliber opinion I'll fall back to 30-06 as a great all-around precision round for anything 600-1200 yards. It's not on the list, and it's not as popular with precision shooting, but it has many advantages. My favorite round FWIW.

Re: Support for Rear of Rifle I used to use a sock filled with sand for rear support, but I decided to get a Protektor Deluxe rear bag finally. No more spilled sand everywhere while trying to clean my rifle... =/

    Savage custom 30-06

Haven't posted in a while. Just got back into shooting and would like to eventually enter F-Open competition. Been hearing about the out-of-the-box accuracy of the Savage rifles, so I ordered one. Came back from the range after trying a bunch of different factory ammo (Federal Gold, HSM...

One rilfe to pick which one?

Re: One rilfe to pick which one? 30-30 Marlin 336 lever action. Can do just about anything you want, as long as it's inside 300 yards (which most things you'd normally encounter will be). Reliable, easy to use, cheap. Great all-around rifle. If you define your needs better we might give...

Iron Ridge Arms NEW AR-10 D model Uppers.

Re: Iron Ridge Arms NEW AR-10 D model Uppers. Nice! I have an IRA lower. Was going to send it to GAP for a .308 build, but now I'll wait until the IRA upper shows up so I can have a matched IRA GAP rifle.

Twist Rates + Bullet Weights, the Same?

Re: Twist Rates + Bullet Weights, the Same? You have to look at twist rate, bullet weight, and muzzle velocity together, not just two of those. Here's a little calculator I just found with a quick search: http://www.uslink.com/~tom1/twistrate.htm I'm sure there are others out there. I...
